Costa Maya on a fork. Walking food tours through the markets, cooking classes with local chefs, tasting flights at the bars worth your time, and a couple of long lunches that double as the day's plan.
1Five hours of relaxation at Mahahual beach — unlimited open bar, beach access, and use of water sports equipment.
“This was an excellent last-minute reservation for us as a couple. We enjoyed massages, delicious drinks, and unique souvenirs from local vendors. Our server Angel was fantastic, always providing fresh drinks as soon as we returned from the beach.”— Sydney_T
2A full-day private tour — visit Chacchoben village, interact with a local Mayan family, and unwind at the Seven Color Lagoon, just one hour from the port.
“This excursion is a must-do if you want an engaging and educational experience. Eliot is by far the most knowledgeable tour guide I've encountered in my 20 years of cruising. My husband, teenage sons, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. The food was outstanding, and the lagoon provided a calming atmosphere. Overall, it was an excellent experience that I highly recommend.”— 116dkt
3Four hours guided tour visiting Chacchoben Ruins and a local Mayan village, including a traditional lunch prepared by residents.
“We had a wonderful time on the Mayan Experience tour with Eddar. The meeting point was straightforward to locate. This was my son's highlight of the cruise. Our small group of 14 arrived at Chacchoben before the cruise excursions, allowing us to explore the site without the crowds. We also appreciated the tasty Mayan lunch. Overall, it was a great glimpse into the culture, and I strongly recommend this excursion.”— squeekcar
4One hour snorkeling in the Costa Maya reef lagoon — observe tropical fish, rays, and turtles in their natural habitat.
“It was an excellent experience; I encountered a sea turtle in its natural habitat for the first time. The tour guides were wonderful and took exceptional care of us.”— Margaret_S
5Five hours by private vehicle — visit Chacchoben's Mayan temples and relax at Mahahual beach with beach facilities included.
“We received a warm welcome and everything was well-organized. It was a wonderful experience for the family, and it was truly relaxing to have someone greet us in an unfamiliar place.”— Elad_A
6Five hours at a relaxing beach in Mahahual — open bar, lunch options, and water activities included.
“I had an excellent experience on this cruise excursion. If you're cruising, I suggest disembarking as early as you can. The beach was clean, and the staff were lively. I had several Mexican holy water shots, which were enjoyable, and I would definitely return. Many vendors approached us, but a polite "no thank you" sent them on their way. Massages are offered but are priced like those in the U.S. My partner and I made good use of the beach chairs, and the water was pleasant, though quite shallow, making it great for relaxation. Just remember to bring your own towels.”— Samantha_B
7Unlimited high-quality drinks at Yaya Beach's open bar, with top-rated food options, including vegan choices.
“I chose this beach resort during our cruise stop in Costa Maya. The taxi fare was $5 per person each way, and the friendly staff welcomed us and helped us find lounge chairs. Although we could select our location, the resort was quite small, squeezed between two other businesses. The beach was tidy, but the water appeared murky and dirty. The swimming area was limited, situated next to a dive shop with boats anchored very close. There were also motorboats passing by, creating waves and a noticeable gasoline smell, which felt unsafe. Additionally, there was an unpleasant sewage-like odor affecting the area. While the drinks were enjoyable, the food was just average, and bar service was inconsistent. I likely won't visit again.”— lauriec783
