This excursion is a must-do if you want an engaging and educational experience. Eliot is by far the most knowledgeable tour guide I've encountered in my 20 years of cruising. My husband, teenage sons, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole day. The food was outstanding, and the lagoon provided a calming atmosphere. Overall, it was an excellent experience that I highly recommend.
This was an informative experience for the whole family. The Mayan garden was stunning and delicious. We discovered different spices and foods cultivated there, and the meals were flavorful.
The experience at the Mayan village and lagoon was wonderful. Our guide Rosie and driver Edgar were excellent, with Rosie being friendly, organized, and respectful. Her knowledge about the Mayan history and culture greatly enriched our understanding of the area and the lagoon. The transportation was both clean and comfortable, and the locations we explored were beautiful and well-maintained. The lunch provided was also very enjoyable.
This day was truly unforgettable. Our guide, Elliot, was exceptional, sharing extensive knowledge about the Mayan community he grew up in. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Prince, the dog. We learned a great deal about the family's lifestyle, picked up some cooking secrets, and enjoyed a delicious meal. I highly recommend this experience to anyone curious about Mayan culture.
My husband and I recently took a tour from the Costa Maya port while on a Royal Caribbean cruise, and we were extremely pleased. We had a fantastic, informative, and enjoyable day with Magali from The Native Choice. We arranged the Mayan Family and Seven Color Lagoon tour directly through the company. They provided clear instructions for meeting up, but keep in mind that after walking through a long pier and a series of shops and eateries, it takes another 10-20 minutes to reach the company kiosk, totaling about a 25-40 minute walk. Once we connected with our small group of nine, we traveled comfortably in an air-conditioned mini-bus driven expertly by Edgar to the Mayan family home. Magali, our guide, was delightful—knowledgeable and engaging—who shared incredible insights about the area and Mayan traditions. At the family home, we enjoyed a tour of the grounds, met the family, and learned to make empanadas and tortillas before savoring a delicious farm-to-table buffet. After feeling full and satisfied, our next stop at the Seven Color Lagoon allowed us to swim and relax in the stunning, clear waters while enjoying two drinks of our choice, with the sangria being a highlight. We wished we could stay longer, but we had only an hour there due to our cruise ship's early departure. Edgar kindly dropped us closer to the port, enabling a quicker walk back, and we boarded well ahead of the all-aboard time. This tour is simply perfect when visiting Costa Maya.
My husband and I decided to book this tour just the night before, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Edgar was an excellent driver, and Maggie was an amazing tour guide, full of knowledge. With only four people in our group, it felt very personalized, which we appreciated. The tour spanned 5.5 hours, perfect for us, with two hours dedicated to driving. We gained insights into the Mayan culture during the drive and even learned some phrases to use with the women who prepared our lunch. We made tortillas and a traditional snack along with tamales. The lunch was delicious, and we then visited the Lagoon. Although we only had about 1.5 hours there, it was stunning and peaceful. I recommend this tour to anyone interested in a mix of cultural exploration and beach time in one day.
This was an incredible experience for our entire family. My husband and I took our 7 and 11-year-old kids on this excursion. Our guide, Romeo, was excellent; he was both knowledgeable and entertaining. Interacting with the Mayan women and assisting in preparing genuine Mayan dishes was a highlight, and we truly enjoyed the meal they cooked for us. The Bacalar Lagoon, although cloudy, still offered a pleasant time as we swam, kayaked, and sipped on cocktails. We highly recommend this tour.
The ATV ride in Cozumel was exhilarating. I expected it to be warm, so I was grateful to have my jacket. The cenote water was pleasantly warm. At 71 years old, I was affectionately called "super grandma" by our very kind tour guide. I had a great time jumping off rocks and driving the ATV. In Costa Maya, the Mayan cooking experience and the Seven Colors Lagoon were enjoyable. Preparing the food was fun, and the lunch was delicious. Canoeing in the lagoon was also a highlight, and we were each given two drinks.
We had a wonderful experience learning about Mayan culture and cuisine from our guide Maggie. Although we got caught in the rain at Bacalar lagoon, it did not lessen our enjoyment. Highly recommended!
