Five hours at a relaxing beach in Mahahual — open bar, lunch options, and water activities included.
This five-hour beach break begins as soon as your cruise ship docks at Costa Maya. A driver will meet you at the port to take you to one of the area's best beaches for an authentic and calm environment.
Once at the location, you’ll find an open bar serving a variety of drinks including tequila and Mexican beer, plus a selection of lunch options ranging from ceviche to seafood platters. Beach chairs, palapas, and umbrellas are provided for comfort, and additional activities like swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling gear are also included. If you're after a tranquil beach experience with good food and drinks, this is a worthwhile option.
Reviews
I always have a great time at this terminal. It's a brief walk from the ship, with many shops nearby and numerous excellent restaurants. However, the aggressive sales approach for excursions and other products feels more pronounced than before. Nonetheless, it remains a lovely place for exploration, and some shops offer better prices than others. Good experiences overall.
The pickup location was clearly marked and straightforward to locate. We were greeted and taken by taxi to a beautiful, clean beach. The food and drinks were abundant and of high quality. The palapa and chairs were quite comfortable. It was a fantastic day.
I could never locate the guides. They also did not cancel our trip even though the ship was late returning around 2:00 for a beach excursion. I'm not happy with this experience.
Initially, we were unsure about the journey along the bumpy roads to the beach club that looked a bit questionable, but the welcoming staff quickly put us at ease. The shaded beach hut was not only comfortable but also conveniently located just a few steps from the entrance. The service and drinks were outstanding, and the food was more than adequate. If our main focus had been swimming, we might have been let down by the swimming area. Nevertheless, it turned out to be a relaxing day, just a 12-minute drive from the cruise port. For those with walking difficulties, it takes roughly 20 minutes to walk through the port village to reach the taxi area, followed by another 5 minutes to a parking lot outside the gates, so having a walker would be advisable.
Expect some confusion when searching for transportation to the beach, as it can be difficult to navigate the crowd. However, the staff were very attentive and enjoyable to interact with.
I had an excellent experience on this cruise excursion. If you're cruising, I suggest disembarking as early as you can. The beach was clean, and the staff were lively. I had several Mexican holy water shots, which were enjoyable, and I would definitely return. Many vendors approached us, but a polite "no thank you" sent them on their way. Massages are offered but are priced like those in the U.S. My partner and I made good use of the beach chairs, and the water was pleasant, though quite shallow, making it great for relaxation. Just remember to bring your own towels.
The transportation was efficient, although you need to walk a bit from the port to find your ride, which isn't much more than other options. The beach club offered outstanding service with first-row shaded chairs. There was an abundance of food and drinks available, and the beach massage option was reasonably priced. However, there were many local vendors selling trinkets, which could be a bit annoying due to their numbers. The beach itself is shallow and not ideal for swimming, but it still offers lovely views.
Our trip started off a bit rocky after a long walk from the cruise pier to the Nohoch Kay Beach Club. We faced some initial chaos with a taxi ride that felt more like an off-road adventure, and then were unexpectedly charged $5 each for transport. Initially, the beach club seemed disappointing. We were the only guests there, and it appeared neglected with seaweed along the shore. However, our experience turned around when Mario warmly welcomed us, showed us to our personalized palapa, pointed out the well-kept facilities, and even handled our transportation refund. As the staff cleaned up the area, we began to feel comfortable. Yorbean later attended to us and was attentive throughout the day. What we thought would be a mistake ended up being a highlight of our cruise, with excellent food and drinks that were truly all-inclusive. Overall, despite the shaky start, it became a great day, earning a solid 4 out of 5 stars.
We had a fantastic day! The beach and water were incredible. Lunch was also quite good, and both my friend and I truly appreciated our experience. I would definitely do it again.
The beach was wonderful, and the service provided by Mr. Mario made our day truly enjoyable. The ceviche was incredibly fresh; we ended up eating it about four times.
