We had a wonderful time on the Mayan Experience tour with Eddar. The meeting point was straightforward to locate. This was my son's highlight of the cruise. Our small group of 14 arrived at Chacchoben before the cruise excursions, allowing us to explore the site without the crowds. We also appreciated the tasty Mayan lunch. Overall, it was a great glimpse into the culture, and I strongly recommend this excursion.
This tour was fantastic and truly surpassed our expectations. We appreciated the 60-minute timeframe to start and initially worried, but the short walk to the pickup point was simple after navigating the busy port area. Getting away quickly meant we arrived at the ruins ahead of the crowd, allowing us to enjoy perfect weather and take photos without many people around. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We then visited the Mayan village, which had some commercialization but still felt authentic enough for a genuine experience. We enjoyed making tortillas, and the lunch was excellent as well. My only minor complaint was that I was hoping for spicier food, which turned out to be suitable for the kids. Overall, I highly recommend this tour.
We experienced some delays from our cruise arrival, which meant we could only participate in half of the excursion. However, our driver Roberto and guides Maggie and Joel were fantastic, providing excellent insights about the Mayan Ruins. Overall, we really enjoyed the trip and would recommend it as a worthwhile excursion.
The check-in process for the tour was straightforward, and Alan, our tour guide, shared fascinating insights about the area and Mayan culture during transportation. Diego, our guide at the ruins, was exceptional. Starting early with a small group allowed us to explore the ruins before the crowds arrived. The Mayan village visit was enjoyable, where we learned to make corn tortillas and had a lovely lunch. Anastacio, our van driver, navigated us efficiently and ensured we returned to our cruise ship on time while providing ample cold water bottles—no need to bring any ourselves. I highly recommend this tour over those offered by the cruise line.
This excursion is perfect for families. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the cruise ship to the meeting point, but there are many people heading that way as well as friendly shop owners and security to guide you. We enjoyed beautiful weather and traveled in a comfortable, spacious bus. The drive was short and pleasant. At the ruins, there’s the option to climb and some free time to explore, plus plenty of restroom breaks. I was ready for bugs but found none! Our guide was knowledgeable and kind. The food was tasty, making for a fun experience. This was a refreshing change from all the water activities on our cruise. Highly recommended.
Elliott, our tour guide, did an outstanding job sharing insights about the history and Mayan culture. Lunch with a local family and his wife was a highlight. This is a five-star experience that I would happily do again and recommend to others.
We had an incredible day with Edder, learning a great deal about Mayan culture. Although our start was slightly delayed due to a large group preferring to stay together, the tour of Chacchoben was amazing. We also enjoyed a delicious Mayan lunch in the village. The entire experience was outstanding, and we strongly recommend Native Choice Tours. However, I will not use Viator again. We had added two friends to our booking in advance, but they were not listed when we arrived, and the tour was at capacity. Viator's customer service was unhelpful. Fortunately, the tour operator had two no-shows, allowing our friends to join, but they had to pay again. I give Viator eight thumbs down.
The guides possess a wealth of knowledge and take great pride in their heritage. The Mayan ruins are remarkable, and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend this tour for families seeking history, great cuisine, and an experience beyond just the beach.
Alondra, our guide, was excellent—very kind and well-informed. The highlight was definitely making and enjoying our own tortillas.
Joel, our tour guide, was outstanding! He was well-organized, knowledgeable, and very friendly. The ruins and the Mayan village were truly impressive. I strongly recommend taking this trip!
