  1. Horseback riding tour in Hopkins, Placencia1

    1. Horseback riding tour in Hopkins

    5.0· 8 reviews

Two-hour tour on trained horses through rainforest groves and a river swim, suitable for children and adults alike.

My husband and I booked this experience through our hotel in Hopkins (Hamanasi) since we both had riding experience in the past. This farm is a genuine working operation with sheep, cows, horses, goats, and guinea fowl. Ken, our guide, ensured we had a fantastic time. He trains the horses and maintains the trails. We chose a more advanced riding option, which was exactly what we hoped for, with some hills along the way. Our horses were excellent and well-trained. The scenery was breathtaking, and we even spotted toucans and various other birds. The ranch borders a jaguar reserve, so keep an eye out for paw prints! Be sure to bring high DEET bug spray, water bottles for everyone, and wear long pants and boots. We loved our adventure and only wish we had done it earlier in our vacation to repeat the experience.piggyflamingomama

    3. Mayan cooking and chocolate-making workshop near Placencia

    5.0· 1 reviews· 7 hours

Six hours, guided transport — cook traditional dishes in a Mayan kitchen, enjoy your lunch, then make your own chocolate bar at a local cacao farm.

If you want to experience more than just sunscreen and drinks during your time in Belize, be sure to connect with Mr. Julio and explore Mayan culture. Kendrick, our guide, infused the day with amazing energy and enthusiasm, while Mr. Noel provided excellent driving. Sean quietly shared additional insights, and Narcisso guided us through the process of growing and harvesting cacao. Mr. Julio's extensive knowledge of cacao and Mayan traditions made me wish for more time with him. It's no surprise that British royals William and Kate were introduced to him during their visit. Olivia welcomed us in her kitchen, making us feel like family as she encouraged us to prepare a delicious meal over a fire. Overall, it was a truly memorable day that enriched my understanding and appreciation of Mayan culture and chocolate.christopherhH6222EU

An exceptional experience overall. Percy was respectful, attentive, and professional, showing great regard for Belize's culture and our time, interests, and abilities. We felt unhurried, yet we stayed on schedule. Knowledgeable, articulate, and pleasant, he suggested an unexpected visit to the Belize Zoo, which added to our adventure. The wildlife, including toucans, crocodiles, and jaguars, was a memorable highlight. Strong work indeed.billmK8717CP

    5. Xunantunich half-day tour from Placencia with lunch

    4.5· 4 reviews· 7 hours

Half-day trip from Placencia — visit Xunantunich Maya Ruins, including lunch and hotel pickup.

Flaco is an excellent tour guide, showcasing deep knowledge and current archaeological and anthropological insights which he eagerly shared with us. He was friendly, cheerful, and attentive. Our driver, Dorian, was also commendable. The ruins were breathtaking, featuring an impressive array of pyramids and structures. However, the included lunch on the way back was disappointing; we were taken to a fast food chain with subpar food. We saw many local Belizean eateries along the route that we would have preferred instead.Amy_H
