Runners Adventures, our tour operator, provided a nice overview of local culture before our visit. The drive from the cruise port took about 25 minutes one way due to traffic. “Initially, we weren't sure what to expect, but Antonio from Tony Tours welcomed us like family. Our experiences with him were incredible, especially the jungle excursion along the Yasica River. Miguel guided us on a boat, showcasing beautiful wildlife such as snowy egrets while drifting along the calm river, which flows into Cabarete Beach at the Boca Chica and Wilson Bar. The sandy strip separated the river from the ocean, and at Wilson Bar, we enjoyed fresh fried fish and chicken in a wonderfully peaceful setting. It felt almost spiritual, as if time had stopped. We loved it so much that Antonio helped us arrange another horseback riding adventure back along the sandbars of the Yasica River to Wilson Bar. It was an amazing experience!
