Our experience was wonderful. Jose and Nelson were excellent guides, attentive to our needs and willing to adjust the itinerary for us. The lunch provided was fantastic, and the hot salsa was the best I've ever had.
My family of six thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The private van transportation was excellent. However, it would be helpful to provide better pre-trip information about the pickup location, as we lacked internet access while traveling. The waterfalls were incredibly fun, and we’d love to revisit them again after finishing the tour.
We had a fantastic experience with Jose as our guide. Traveling with a large family can be challenging, but Edgar Private Tours exceeded our expectations. The trip was just as promised, and we felt secure throughout. Jose provided insights into Dominican culture and cuisine, making us feel like part of the family. We appreciated being able to leave our belongings in a locked van during the waterfall visit, which saved us the trouble of locker rentals. The meal following the tour was also superb. We highly recommend this service and plan to book with them again on our next visit to Puerto Plata.
We had an amazing time on the waterfall tour! I highly recommend it, just be prepared for many steps. They offer plenty of breaks, but having a disposable water bottle for the ascent is essential. Water shoes with a sturdy sole are important too, as there are many rocks and pebbles. The park provides helmets and life jackets. Edgar's Tours was excellent, with great communication before and during the experience. I highly endorse both the waterfalls and Edgar's Tours.
I planned this outing for my family, including my 5-year-old grandson and 6.5-year-old granddaughter. I checked for kid-friendly details but found nothing indicating they couldn't enjoy the normal falls. Once we arrived, I had to walk the kids to the last small fall, as they weren't allowed to go down the small slide either, while my husband and son hiked up to the 7 falls for 2.5 hours. They had a great time, but if I had known we couldn't be together, I would have preferred to stay at the port enjoying the pools and lazy river with the grandkids.
There were positives and negatives about this excursion. We were picked up in a clean, air-conditioned car, just the two of us. After receiving life jackets and helmets, we were directed without clarity on whether we were in a group. Following a lengthy walk across a big bridge, we were met by someone we assumed was our guide. The hike to the falls turned out to be quite strenuous, mostly uphill and at a brisk pace. Although my husband and I, both 54 and relatively fit, managed, others in our group had a tougher time. We hiked for about 45 minutes uphill before descending a steep set of stairs. When we reached the water, it involved descending a wooden ladder, and we waded through shallow water until we encountered the first slide. We felt rushed through each slide and could only leap once. The water time felt chaotic, diminishing what could have been a fantastic experience. Some parts required climbing slippery rocks, but the scenery was stunning. Unfortunately, the urgency to move large groups through the area detracted from our enjoyment. The return hike was mostly level but included wading in and out of water. Our driver was waiting when we returned to drop off our gear and guided us to lunch, which I would recommend skipping as it was average buffet food with just bottled water. The driver took us straight back to the port after we finished eating. I believe this experience is similar to what you would get when booking through the ship, but at a lower cost. However, it felt a bit discomforting for just the two of us to ride with a stranger, as they didn't even ask for our names or check our tickets.
This tour deserves a perfect score of 10/10! Our guide, Nelson from Edgar Tours, was exceptional and incredibly informative, making our travel experience in the Dominican Republic truly memorable. From the start, the booking process was straightforward and transparent. The waterfalls were stunning, and the guides and photographers exceeded our expectations. I highly recommend this experience.
It was much more beautiful than I anticipated. You can rent water shoes if you leave yours behind, and they are of good quality. The hike up the hill is challenging, but it is definitely worth it.
This experience was outstanding. We received VIP treatment, and the buffet that followed was quite enjoyable. I would certainly participate in this again.
The tour was excellent. They went out of their way to help us with our timing issues. Our guide, Anderson, catered to just the two of us, and he was both professional and entertaining. He addressed all our inquiries.
