  3. Hiking to Hovdsundet Beach in Bodø, Bodo3

    3. Hiking to Hovdsundet Beach in Bodø

    5.0· 10 reviews· 6 hours

A challenging hike to Hovdsundet Beach, approximately 4 hours round trip, ideal for experienced backcountry hikers seeking remote coastal views.

In my view, this is undoubtedly the top attraction in Bodo. The stunning view at the mountain summit is truly awe-inspiring. The round trip took me 2.5 hours, including 30 minutes in the dark, and as a 61-year-old, I found the trek to be unexpectedly challenging and dangerous. I made numerous mistakes, so I’ll share some tips to help you prepare: wear proper boots, carry plenty of water and snacks, start early to avoid darkness, don’t hike alone, keep your phone charged, and avoid going if it’s wet or about to rain. If I hadn't encountered two kind 21-year-old Norwegian girls, I might not have made it back! Being well-prepared will enhance your experience. The trek has many tough and risky areas, so stay alert and focused. What you’ll find at the top is nature in its finest form. From the summit, you can see much of the beach and distant mountains, but if you head to the left, there’s a small ledge that offers a complete view of the beach, though the mountains aren't visible from below. I recommend visiting both spots for varied perspectives in your photos and videos. This is a must-do experience.jordanellie41
