Two to three hours of moderate hiking — reach 366 m for sweeping views of Bodø, the sea, and the Lofoten Islands.
A classic hike in Bodø, this trail leads to the Keiservarden mountain plateau, standing at 366 m above sea level. The hike is generally moderate and can be completed in about two to three hours, making it accessible for various fitness levels. Along the ascent, you’ll encounter stone stairs constructed by Sherpas from Nepal, which help preserve the terrain.
At the summit, the panoramic views are a highlight; on a clear day, you can see the silhouettes of the Lofoten Islands, including Værøy and Røst, to the west. To the east, the peaks of the beautiful Børvasstind mountain range come into view, adding to the scenic landscape. This destination is particularly popular for witnessing the Midnight Sun during the summer months.
Reviews
I climbed the mountain with just the guide and myself, which made for a nice experience as we could go at our own pace. The guide was very knowledgeable and highlighted must-see spots after the hike. I've never had such an excellent guide; it was outstanding. The views were stunning—this is something you should definitely experience.
I highly recommend this hike to anyone considering it. Our guide, Ivar, was very accommodating, giving my friend and me a personal tour since we were the only participants that day. Although the weather started off rainy, Ivar assured us it would improve, and he was right. The views at the summit were great, and the hike was manageable for a beginner like myself. We appreciated the freedom to set our own pace and decide when and where to stop for photos. Ivar even suggested additional activities for us and checked in afterward to ensure we were enjoying our trip. He also provided tips for future visits to Norway. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a better guide.
The team at Nordland Turselskap was approachable and accommodating, ensuring a great experience not only for the trip I booked but also by offering helpful local tips and insights during my weekend visit. I truly appreciate it. Thank you!
I participated in this hike in October 2019 with Kaja as our guide. It was an easy and scenic trek up the hill, offering stunning views of the islands and snow-covered mountains. At the top, we rested in a hut where Kaja served us tea and chocolates. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I definitely recommend it if you have a half day available in Bodo.
I enjoyed a wonderful winter hike with my guide Ivar, who provided great insights about the region. The views from the summit were breathtaking. I can't wait to return and discover more of the area when I have more time.
Ivar, our skilled guide, organized a fantastic trip despite the cold, windy weather preventing us from visiting Keisersverdan. He reached out the day before to ensure I had the right gear and was willing to provide items like woolen socks if needed. Instead of the original plan, we explored a forest and a frozen lake while snowshoeing, and took photos at beautiful beaches and villages around Bodo. We enjoyed hot drinks and snacks along the way to stay warm. The activities were fun, and Ivar made the experience enjoyable for everyone, even for a beginner like myself. I highly recommend this for anyone visiting Bodo.
I had an incredible experience on this hike, which was both enjoyable and easy to navigate. Ivar, our guide, was fantastic—he shared a wealth of information and offered helpful tips for exploring the city. He was patient and adaptable, making the entire outing thoroughly enjoyable.
I enjoyed the experience, which was straightforward to plan using Trip Advisor. We also embarked on an extensive hike that exceeded two hundred meters, which was very beneficial for us.
It was a wonderful day with stunning views, and our guide Julie was a fantastic person with a warm smile. We certainly felt happy throughout the experience.
The hike up the hill was excellent, taking a rocky path. I returned down a gravel road. The weather was ideal, and the views were breathtaking.
