Saltstraumen is the world's strongest tidal current, located near Bodø in Norway. This natural phenomenon occurs in the Saltfjord, where the sea flows through a narrow strait, creating whirlpools and dramatic water movements. The current can reach speeds of up to 37 kilometres per hour during peak ebb and flow, drawing nature enthusiasts and photographers alike. Visit during spring or autumn for the best conditions, especially if you're interested in fishing or observing wildlife like seals and sea birds. The nearby Keiservarden mountain offers a panoramic view of the fjord and surrounding landscapes, making it a worthwhile stop after exploring the strait.

Two-hour RIB boat ride through Saltstraumen — experience the world's strongest maelstrom and spot white-tailed eagles in their natural habitat.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We joined this tour while in Bodo with AIDA and booked it earlier at a much lower price through Tripadvisor. The guides were friendly and laid-back. We had the chance to observe two different species of eagles up close, and the salt dreaming was wonderful. Highly recommended for all ages!annikad352 on the Saltstraumen maelstrom and eagle safari by RIB boat tour

Evening tour through the Norwegian landscape in search of moose, includes snacks and warm beverages.

Last Thursday, we experienced an amazing moose safari that exceeded our expectations. Initially, we explored Bodø’s beautiful nature, including Saltstraumen, while we waited for moose to appear. As the time went on, we spotted more moose, and our guides were dedicated to the experience even though it was likely past the usual end time. We ended up seeing around 30 moose, including two calves, along with some deer and three young foxes. This activity is undoubtedly the highlight of Bodø; I highly recommend it.saramP1516TN on the Moose observation safari in Bodo, Norway tour

Two hours at the Saltstraumen Strait, timed for peak tidal currents, guided observation of the natural power of the water.

Our guide Muhammad led our small group of four to a fantastic viewpoint for the Saltstraumen Current, which was just at the edge of the waterway, making it easy to see. The current was more noticeable during high tide. He also took us to another beautiful spot and shared plenty of insights about the area. It was a very enjoyable and comfortable experience to witness the current.Scott_J on the Saltstraumen current observation tour tour
