“This company goes above and beyond to ensure a remarkable experience. Although they can't control the weather, they entertain you with talks in teepees and roasting marshmallows while waiting for the skies to light up. During our four days, every staff member was helpful, friendly, and enjoyable. We regretted not having cash to tip them, as they truly deserved it. The entire trip was well-managed, from airport transfers to customizing your experience. Our flight times kept changing, but they stayed informed, and all transfers were smooth. We rented extra insulated clothing, which turned out unnecessary due to the unexpectedly warm weather, but it was wise to be prepared—being underdressed would be quite uncomfortable. On viewing nights, you could join as few as 8 people in January or a larger group of 100 during peak season. Regardless of the size, they split groups into small language-specific shuttles, each with a tour guide/driver. They make you feel welcome and ensure you capture great photos, provided the sun cooperates. The presence of multiple yurts and teepees prevents crowding, plus tripods are available for use, with guides assisting with camera settings for the best shots. There are even heated outhouses so you won’t freeze when nature calls, although the pit’s updraft is certainly a wake-up call. Some have noted staff accents; indeed, most guides come from various countries, needing to be multilingual to connect with international visitors. We had no difficulty understanding them and enjoyed sharing travel stories. Having guides from different backgrounds enhanced our tour experience. We used an online NOAA experimental tool to check Aurora predictions, and even if the chances seemed bleak, spending at least one night marshmallow roasting in the teepees, savoring the silence, stargazing, and listening to diverse travelers’ tales was worthwhile. We loved the experience and highly recommend it. Best of luck with your Aurora viewing.”— REDavis

5Six days of snowmobiling, ice fishing, wildlife viewing, and Northern Lights from Whitehorse, with optional hot springs visits and a scenic flight.
“Our trip to Whitehorse with Arctic Range Adventure was incredible. I am extremely grateful for such a wonderful experience. This tour company is remarkable—helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. The office staff were friendly and patient, and the guides spoke multiple languages. Every detail of the program was flawlessly organized, from airport pickup to drop-off. We thoroughly enjoyed Dog Sledding, Snowmobiling, Wildlife viewing, Hot Springs, Aurora Viewing, and a Sightseeing flight over five days. They are truly exceptional, and I highly recommend this experience to everyone.”— traufre
6Two evenings of wildlife viewing and Northern Lights observation from Whitehorse, featuring visits to the Wildlife Preserve and Aurora Centre.
“I participated in several tours with this agency, and here's my review of each one: *Auroras* It's important to realize that auroras are a natural occurrence and can't be guaranteed. I booked five days for sightings, and we were lucky to see them on three, which made it all worthwhile. There were times when they weren't visible, but that's beyond the agency's control. The tour starts at a remote center, accessible via the agency's buses, and lasts about an hour. Dress warmly as the night can get quite cold. They provide a cabin, a tipi, and a yurt for warmth, along with hot drinks like coffee, tea, and chocolate, plus cookies. In the cabin, you can find board games and watch films or documentaries about Yukon. I spent most of my time outside since the auroras can appear and vanish quickly. I suggest bringing a small flashlight for walking on the snowy terrain, as there is little outdoor lighting near the cabin. Also, keep in mind that auroras vary in visibility (the Kp index 0 to 9) and may not be seen by the naked eye at lower levels, though cameras can capture them. The guides offer a photo service, so you can purchase those later, and they can help set up your phone for better pictures. The aurora tour is definitely worth it, and I recommend booking as many days as you can to boost your chances of seeing them. *Wildlife Reserve* It’s essential to understand that this is not a zoo; many animals are rescues and have large enclosures, so they might not be easily visible. Patience is necessary to spot them. The paths are lovely and wonderful for nature photography. There's a small store selling postcards, mugs, sweatshirts, and stuffed animals at reasonable prices. I suggest getting the stuffed animals there as I didn’t see them elsewhere during my trip. The tour is conducted on the agency's bus, with some walking sections, and it’s peaceful, especially with the beautiful snowy landscapes. Both excursions are highly recommended for anyone wanting to enjoy the stunning scenery of Whitehorse. Arctic Range truly delivers excellent service.”— jimenap2018
