  3. Cenote swim shore excursion in Progreso, Progreso3

    3. Cenote swim shore excursion in Progreso

    4.0· 1 reviews· 5 hours

Explore ancient freshwater cenotes during this shore excursion from Progreso, surrounded by tropical foliage within a beautiful cave system.

The cenotes were fantastic, and our grandchildren, aged 6 and 9, declared it the best day they’ve had in Progreso. We were picked up at our Airbnb, just outside downtown Progreso, which was convenient since we had the van to ourselves. The reason I rated it 4 stars is that the van ride was hot and uncomfortable due to poor air conditioning. Although we assumed the van would be air-conditioned, it wasn't mentioned. It was 95 degrees on the day of our trip. Our guide, Antonio, did an excellent job leading us through the cenote tour and made sure we got to lunch and our other destinations. We would definitely do this excursion again. The communication with the tour company was also good. I would recommend scheduling the tour for a day when there are no cruise ships in town to enjoy a less crowded experience in the cenotes.Michele_S

The tour was excellent, and the guide made changes to our itinerary, with our agreement, because of a situation beyond their control.Ingrid_W

    3.7· 3 reviews· 5 hours

Three-hour guided Segway tour — explore Progreso's main square, coastline, and relax at a private beach club with optional all-inclusive services.

The scenery was stunning, and despite some wind, the water was inviting. We captured a lot of pictures, including the Poseidon statue on the beach, enjoying a lovely afternoon. However, my favorite part was exploring the Meteor Museum; the guide was excellent and articulate, making it a memorable experience. I would definitely recommend this. Thank you.Sightsee58291308968
  3. Visit Mayapan ruins and swim in cenote, Progreso6

    6. Visit Mayapan ruins and swim in cenote

    3.6· 13 reviews· 5 hours

Half-day tour of Mayapan archaeological site followed by a refreshing swim in a cenote.

This experience felt like a complete scam. The guide did not accompany us into the ruins, the van lacked air conditioning, and the price didn't cover entry fees for the cenote or the ruins. They were late for pickup, resulting in only about 15 minutes at each location. We had to switch vans midway because one was unregistered, which made the situation feel very questionable, and we nearly asked to be taken back to the port. I would advise against booking this excursion.Steven_Z

Four hours in Progreso — coastal sights, beach relaxation, and local food and drinks included.

Everything was perfect during our stay. The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms were impressive, providing hotel-style amenities. The food and drink options were excellent, and we appreciated the relaxing yet social atmosphere with spa and pool facilities. The all-inclusive experience was well-balanced, featuring outstanding food and attentive butler service. Alejandro Mendoza was an exceptional entertainer as well. I loved every moment of it.Wanderer590676
  5. ATV excursion to Misnebalam ghost town in Progreso, Progreso8

    8. ATV excursion to Misnebalam ghost town in Progreso

    3.2· 6 reviews

Half-day ATV adventure to the eerie Misnebalam ghost town with tales of witchcraft and hauntings.

If I could give this a zero rating, I would. Slicer Beach Club is quite small and not very pleasant. The pool is as tiny as a hot tub and dirty. Surprisingly, Slicer was the highlight of the tour. The female guide in the van continuously criticized Americans for being wealthy while her people struggle. It was confusing whether she disliked us or just wanted our money. The long drive led us to a secluded “farm” where we switched to another guide for the ATV ride, while the first guide left to lead another tour. I ended up alone with my young grandson and an unfamiliar man in a remote area of Yucatan, away from anyone else. On the ATVs, we ventured further into the wilderness, and panic set in as I thought about kidnapping stories I’ve heard. It was dusty, hot, and desolate, far from the ship. We finally reached a "ghost town" where the guide had us climb a wall, leaving me nervous as he stayed outside. The area was filled with graffiti, dilapidated buildings, and unkempt nature. While exploring, we encountered another man armed and stationed in a treehouse. I was terrified but managed to engage him, only to receive a cold glare. We quickly left as our guide and the armed man exchanged tense words that I couldn’t understand, and we were rushed off the property. On the way back, we passed a sewage plant that smelled terrible and a lagoon for swimming, which we declined. I just wanted to return to the ship; this experience was overwhelming. Back at the farm, the animals looked neglected, and the conditions were disheartening. After a 45-60 minute wait, the original guide returned with her group, all looking as unhappy as us. There were no refreshments, no restrooms, and the whole ordeal felt like a nightmare I had paid for. Even my grandson, who loves ATVs, disliked this trip. We made it back to the ship on time, which is the only positive I can mention. For anyone’s sake, avoid this tour. (We took this in May 2019.)amyc0919

Seven hours of exploration — visit Chichen Itza's pyramids, ball courts, and more, with snacks included during the tour.

Spicy and Jose were fantastic! The guides provided informative, courteous, and helpful service, making the experience truly enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour. They picked us up at the pier, took us to the Mayan ruins, and then to a cenote for swimming and lunch. It was an incredible day that my family, including boys aged 2 and 20, all cherished.AG982
