A full-day trip from Mérida to pink lakes, swim in a cenote, spot flamingos, and relax at Progreso Beach.
This full-day tour from Mérida packs four must-see highlights of the Yucatán Peninsula into a single outing. You'll start by swimming in a cave cenote, then visit the renowned pink ponds where traditional salt harvesting takes place. Throughout the year, conditions at the ponds vary; from March to August, expect bright pink waters, while from September to February, the ponds may look brownish, prompting an alternative visit to a nearby archaeological site if preferred.
The day includes opportunities to spot flamingos in their natural habitat before unwinding at one of Yucatán's popular beaches, Progreso. Plan for a long day, and bring a swimsuit and sunscreen for beach time.
Reviews
I enjoyed the Uxmal excursion and the cenotes. The guide provided transportation and shared informative explanations. I appreciated visiting authentic cenotes and trying traditional food.
This was one of the best tours we've experienced in Mexico. While cenotes can often feel similar, this one stood out as unique and exciting. The lakes, although small, had a striking pink hue despite the rain. Seeing flamingos in their natural habitat was fantastic, and our time in Progreso added a relaxed vibe to the day. A special mention goes to our guide Sergio, who was both charismatic and engaging.
Serjio was an excellent guide—accommodating, spoke good English, and was very considerate. The tour was both informative and interesting, enjoyed from the comfort of a van.
