When Skjolden is your base but the destination is somewhere else for the day. Fully-organised round trips with private transport, guides, and the reservations sorted before you leave the hotel.
1Three-hour guided tour from Olden cruise pier — visit glaciers, fjords and a waterfall, with light Norwegian snacks provided.
2One hour and forty-five minutes by coach — scenic drive past Loen Lake and Olden Lake with stops for photos of Mjelkevollen Glacier.
3Rent an electric bike for 1 hour to a full day and explore Olden’s scenic fjords and village roads at your own pace.
4Four hours of exploration — boat trip over the glacier lake followed by a guided walk on the glacier, featuring floating icebergs and scenic views.
“This adventure was fantastic. We started at the park visitor center, where we took some time to explore the exhibit before heading to Styggevatnet Lake. After parking, we climbed a rocky hillside to reach the RIB boats, where we were provided with life vests. The boat ride across the lake led us to a stunning, remote glacier with beautiful blue ice, although we were mainly alone aside from our group. However, this excursion is not suitable for those with mobility challenges. I saw someone using a cane struggle on the initial uphill and later have trouble crossing to their boat due to instability. I managed to complete the trip with a pulled Achilles tendon, though I believe my doctor wouldn't have approved. Fortunately, I didn’t exacerbate my injury. The guides were very knowledgeable and professional, and I felt like we had an adequate amount of time on the ice.”— nbd17
5Flexible duration with a local guide — visit Briksdal Glacier and take the SkyLift for stunning views, with troll cars included.
“Having Mia as our tour guide again was a stroke of luck. She’s fantastic, and the private tour is definitely the way to go. It allowed us to skip the crowds and access spots that buses can't reach. Mia introduced us to local foods and traditions, and the photos turned out amazing. Thank you, Mia.”— Diana_R
6Half-day bus trip from Olden, passing waterfalls and farmlands to Briksdal Glacier, with optional troll car rental for easier access.
“This was an excellent excursion. I took the troll car, which was a great value. While you can hike the trail, it's a challenging uphill climb that takes about 45 minutes unless you're very fit.”— antoniobD4137QJ
7Four-hour tour by bus to Briksdal Glacier, including a 60-minute hike through stunning natural scenery.
“The excursion to the Glacier was wonderful. We connected with our guide, Elisabet, right at the terminal and traveled comfortably by bus to the glacier’s base. The hike took about 45 minutes and was both manageable and picturesque. Elisabet was well-informed and made sure we had a fantastic time. I would definitely recommend this tour with her.”— earthur54
