1Full-day trip — explore Huanta, Chile's thermal baths at 3,300 m, with local wine tasting and craft beer to finish.
“My time in Chile was highlighted by this incredible hike. Fernanda was an exceptional guide, sharing a wealth of knowledge while maintaining a very upbeat demeanor. I’m eager to return to her Airbnb for another trekking experience.”— Explore61559276506s
2Half-day hike in the Elqui Valley — a nature-focused wellness retreat incorporating ancestral techniques and mindful movement in a serene Andean setting.
“This journey was truly unforgettable, offering a deep connection with nature and spirituality. Loreto, the guide, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and wise. The mix of walking, nature, Andean perspectives, and wellness practices created a meaningful and enriching experience, providing a profound insight into the Elqui Valley's culture. I would gladly repeat this activity countless times and highly recommend it as a must-do in the valley; it was genuinely transformative. I've gained invaluable knowledge and experience.”— 830benjam_np
3Five hours by van — explore Elqui Valley's indigenous heritage, visit pisco and wine cellars, with local flavors and a nod to Gabriela Mistral's legacy.
“Our day in the Elqui Valley was filled with valuable experiences. The guide was very informative and ensured that everyone, even those of us who don't speak Spanish, understood everything. The wine and Pisco tastings were enjoyable, and we appreciated the additional insights into the area's history and geology.”— Rnnaug_B
4Four hours of guided trekking at Puclaro reservoir — stargazing and astrophotography in one of the clearest skies on Earth.
“This was an incredible experience. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, fluent in both Spanish and English. There are two routes to the photo location, one easier than the other, but the more challenging path is definitely worth the effort. The hike is quite demanding but extremely fulfilling. Make sure to wear hiking or trail shoes. The views are stunning, and the photos are magnificent. I highly recommend it.”— Daniela_O
5Half-day guided trek through the Cochiguaz river valley, starting at 1,800 metres with provided trekking poles and other necessary gear.
“The valley offers stunning scenery and a wonderful walk, ideal for those without a car looking to enjoy nature away from the villages. The guide, a local, truly conveys his passion for the area. The agency staff are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended!”— lisacK7541GR
6A guided tour of three islands near La Serena — hike on Isla Damas and enjoy marine wildlife including penguins and dolphins.
“As a wildlife photographer, I highly recommend Tembeta Travel for day trips to the Humboldt penguin reserves located north of La Serena, Chile. In January 2024, I booked two tours of the Damas Island and Chañaral de Aceituno reserves through Tembeta Travel, aiming to photograph all 19 species of penguins in their natural habitat. My experience was exceptional, thanks to the professionalism of Tembeta’s manager, Cristobal, and tour guide, Natalia, who both worked hard to provide ample opportunities for photographing Humboldt penguins and other marine wildlife. Each trip started with an early morning pickup at my La Serena hotel, followed by a two-hour drive to the harbor, where we boarded boats for cruises that showcased not only the Humboldt penguins but also various seabirds, sea lions, and even humpback and fin whales. I especially appreciated having an English-speaking guide since I was the only non-Spanish speaker on both tours. On the Damas Island tour, we had an hour to explore the island, walking along paths and watching the antics of newly hatched gull chicks. Before returning to La Serena, both tours included a restaurant lunch with beer, wine, and soft drink options, and I particularly enjoyed the grilled fresh fish, which was my main meal for each tour day. Overall, Tembeta Travel offered punctual transportation, friendly and professional guides, and a genuine willingness to customize the tour to meet my photographic needs. I can confidently say that Tembeta provided some of the finest local tour experiences I’ve encountered in my years of traveling internationally.”— Ed_F
