Tours and experiences in Bend that work for travellers with children — pacing built for short attention spans, snack stops, and the kind of hosts who actually want kids around. Hand-picked by Rovostays from operators we've personally vetted.
1Rent a Surrey or electric bike for a scenic ride along the Deschutes River — includes bike locks, maps, and helmets at no extra cost.
2Two-hour outdoor picnic with alpacas — enjoy lunch with these friendly animals in their pasture, led by knowledgeable hosts.
“During my trip to Oregon with my parents, I was thrilled to schedule a visit. Unfortunately, I mistakenly booked for June instead of May. However, after speaking with Amanda, she kindly allowed us to come anyway. We had a wonderful tour, fed the alpacas, and relaxed in the pasture. If you're nearby, I highly recommend visiting. We truly appreciated Amanda's generosity and had a fantastic afternoon that we couldn't have asked for more.”— 662cirap
3Two hours in snowshoes through an old-growth forest, led by a naturalist guide, with insights into local wildlife and history, plus hot cocoa break.
“We had a wonderful snowshoe tour with Kristen. Luckily, it was snowing that day, providing us with fresh snow for our hike. The tour was well-organized, and Kristen was very knowledgeable about the area.”— barbaraonboard
4A flexible, self-paced scavenger hunt in Bend, designed for kids to explore various local spots at their leisure.
“We all had a fantastic time with this activity. However, I have a couple of recommendations: 1. It would have been helpful to group the clues together, as we often found ourselves running back and forth, which wasted time and energy. 2. Additionally, it would be beneficial for the stores and locations to be aware that they are part of the scavenger hunt. None of the staff seemed to know about it, which felt a bit odd, even though they were very friendly and accommodating. Despite these suggestions, we discovered places we wouldn't have found otherwise, and we're glad we participated. I would definitely recommend this to others.”— judysA9669RN
5Two hours of snowshoeing through old-growth forest, highlighting wildlife tracks and constellations, with hot cocoa break included.
“I strongly suggest Wanderlust Tours for an unforgettable experience in Central Oregon. We previously enjoyed a moonlight canoe tour and just this past weekend took a moonlight snowshoeing tour. Since there was no snow, the tour company graciously switched to a night hike at Fort Rock. It was an incredible experience that I would wholeheartedly repeat.”— Z5310UOsuzannes
6Three-hour guided kayak tour across high-elevation lakes with insights on local geology and wildlife, suitable for families and nature enthusiasts.
“The guide was very knowledgeable, and the scenery was stunning. I gained a lot of insight into the formation of the lake and the movement of water.”— Michelle_B
7Two hours on an electric bike — explore Bend's scenic beauty and the Deschutes River with minimal effort and some off-the-beaten-path stops.
“We had an excellent time with Scott! It had been ages since we last rode bikes, and this experience was fantastic. Scott gave us thorough instructions, and soon we were enjoying a fun-filled afternoon. Highly recommend this activity.”— Alex_P
