Visitors encounter rugged cliffs, lush forests, and sweeping river views, with trailheads accessible from several points in the city, including the Old Mill District. Allocate around half a day to explore the most scenic sections, especially in late spring when wildflowers bloom along the route. A custom private ride along the Deschutes River for up to two guests aged 16 and older.

We enjoyed a wonderful ride. Safety was a top priority, and we were provided with helmets and Hit-Air vests, which act like airbags for the chest in case of a fall. The horses, Ty and Maverick, were calm and reliable. Our journey took us through the forest and along the river, avoiding any open areas, and we occasionally encountered walkers with dogs on the trail. Alongside insights into the geographic history of the river and lava flows, we were treated to magnificent views of the river, transitioning from rapids to calm waters. If you're a fan of horses and nature, I highly recommend Wilderness Horse Adventures.lynnlhaskin on the Private horse riding on the Deschutes River tour
