10Full-day yacht cruise from Marsa Alam to Sataya Reef — swim with dolphins and snorkel vibrant coral gardens, including lunch and drinks on board.
“The journey to Sataya Reef was quite an adventure. We got picked up promptly from the JAZ Neo Reef Marsa at 5 am, and the drive to Hamata Port took around three hours, as the shuttle stops at other hotels along the way. The trip itself through the desert showcased both good and bad roads, along with glimpses of small towns and military barracks. Upon arrival, we boarded a yacht with approximately 40 other passengers. The crew was exceptionally friendly, and while snorkeling gear and life jackets were included, they were in somewhat worn condition. It's advisable to bring adequate sun protection; some individuals ended up sunburned by the end of the day. The national park entry costs an extra €15 per person, which is about €13 more than what locals pay. This fee, along with an additional service charge, is collected in cash onboard. Some guests opted to pay in dollars. Neoprene suits can be rented for an additional €10 each, although the water was warm enough at the end of April. We enjoyed about 45 minutes of snorkeling with dolphins, amidst around 15 to 20 other yachts parked nearby, leading to a bustling atmosphere in the water. Yet, we were fortunate to encounter some spinner dolphins. Lunch on the boat was included and exceeded our expectations—everyone was well fed. Various drinks like tea, coffee, Sprite, and water were available throughout the trip in small cups. After lunch, we had the option to return to the dolphins or snorkel on the reef; we chose the dolphins, which turned out to be another highlight with fewer people around and more sightings of dolphins. On the return journey, photos and videos from the day were available for purchase, but we declined as we only appeared briefly in a six-second clip. The packages ranged from €30 to €35, depending on negotiations, but we suggest bringing an action camera to capture your memories. After a 2.5-hour boat ride back to Hamata, we took the shuttle for another three hours and arrived at our hotel around 7:30 pm. It was a fantastic trip, albeit a very long day.”— N5762JMsvenm
