Wildlife, forests, gardens, and the green pockets of Safaga that make it bearable in monsoon and beautiful by November. Day trips and short drives where the landscape is the point.
1Two hours of exploration at Sand City—a unique open-air museum featuring intricate sand sculptures of famous landmarks and figures.
“An amazing experience with welcoming individuals. A visit to the spice farm is essential while in Zanzibar, along with enjoying a traditional lunch. They provide insights about all the crops they cultivate and share details on each one. It was a fascinating experience, with excellent communication throughout the day and during the visit.”— Wilfyprem
2Choose a 1-, 2-, or 3-hour ride through the beach and desert, plus a unique opportunity to swim with horses in the Red Sea.
“They put in a lot of effort to ensure it was a wonderful experience.”— Jacinda V
3Three hours of quad biking and camel riding in Marsa Alam, including hotel pickup, guided tour, and a traditional tea break in the desert.
“We enjoyed a wonderful day; the quad biking was exciting, and the staff were very welcoming.”— Tourist54601668837
4Flexible adventure with single or double ATV quad biking, buggy rides, camel rides, and a visit to a traditional Bedouin village, offered at sunrise or sunset.
“An exhilarating experience for both kids and adults. Riding camels is truly something special. Just make sure to bring sunglasses and a scarf for this activity.”— Levy_d
5Full-day yacht cruise from Marsa Alam to Sataya Reef — swim with dolphins and snorkel vibrant coral gardens, including lunch and drinks on board.
“The journey to Sataya Reef was quite an adventure. We got picked up promptly from the JAZ Neo Reef Marsa at 5 am, and the drive to Hamata Port took around three hours, as the shuttle stops at other hotels along the way. The trip itself through the desert showcased both good and bad roads, along with glimpses of small towns and military barracks. Upon arrival, we boarded a yacht with approximately 40 other passengers. The crew was exceptionally friendly, and while snorkeling gear and life jackets were included, they were in somewhat worn condition. It's advisable to bring adequate sun protection; some individuals ended up sunburned by the end of the day. The national park entry costs an extra €15 per person, which is about €13 more than what locals pay. This fee, along with an additional service charge, is collected in cash onboard. Some guests opted to pay in dollars. Neoprene suits can be rented for an additional €10 each, although the water was warm enough at the end of April. We enjoyed about 45 minutes of snorkeling with dolphins, amidst around 15 to 20 other yachts parked nearby, leading to a bustling atmosphere in the water. Yet, we were fortunate to encounter some spinner dolphins. Lunch on the boat was included and exceeded our expectations—everyone was well fed. Various drinks like tea, coffee, Sprite, and water were available throughout the trip in small cups. After lunch, we had the option to return to the dolphins or snorkel on the reef; we chose the dolphins, which turned out to be another highlight with fewer people around and more sightings of dolphins. On the return journey, photos and videos from the day were available for purchase, but we declined as we only appeared briefly in a six-second clip. The packages ranged from €30 to €35, depending on negotiations, but we suggest bringing an action camera to capture your memories. After a 2.5-hour boat ride back to Hamata, we took the shuttle for another three hours and arrived at our hotel around 7:30 pm. It was a fantastic trip, albeit a very long day.”— N5762JMsvenm
6A full-day boat trip — snorkel in Marsa Mubarak Bay at two sites, with lunch and refreshments included, ideal for marine life enthusiasts.
“It was a truly disappointing experience. Not only did we not spot a dugong, but the crew made no effort to look for them, and we could only see the turtles from far away. To make matters worse, they walked by asking for tips as if they had earned them. This felt like a scam.”— Cristian_V
