It was a truly disappointing experience. Not only did we not spot a dugong, but the crew made no effort to look for them, and we could only see the turtles from far away. To make matters worse, they walked by asking for tips as if they had earned them. This felt like a scam.
Although there were many participants on the boat and at the snorkeling locations, everyone was dedicated to ensuring we had a memorable experience. Initially, we didn't see any manatees, but just as we were about to head back, we received word of a sighting. Our time was extended, and it turned out to be fantastic.
The tour was efficiently organized, with timely hotel pickup and a smooth start. The team introduced themselves thoroughly, and had plenty of equipment available. After three stops, we enjoyed a delicious lunch buffet. Following that, we had the opportunity to explore the reef on our own, swimming alongside a turtle and a manatee. The team was friendly and very accommodating.
Friendly guides and delicious food during the hike. I highly recommend this activity, which includes two to three snorkeling stops where we saw turtles, dolphins, and dugongs.
The journey was pleasant, but additional fees of 5€ for the national park and 6€ for the diving suit were unexpected. While we spotted turtles, there were no dugongs. Although advertised as a day trip, we only started after 10:00 and returned by 14:00. The value for money just wasn't there. It's unfortunate.
Everything ran smoothly. We were picked up from our hotel and transported to the boat, where we received a briefing on snorkeling. We explored two snorkeling spots with guidance, enjoyed a varied buffet for lunch, and had some extra free time for snorkeling. Afterward, we were taken back to the harbor, where vans were waiting to return us. It was a fantastic day.
Worth Reef didn't impress me much; it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. However, the people I encountered were friendly.
There were some positive aspects of the trip, such as seeing a dugong, several turtles, and clownfish. Our snorkel guide was friendly and attentive, and the food was acceptable. However, we were initially confused by receiving messages from two different numbers requesting our passport copies, along with conflicting pick-up times and meeting points. The minibus driver was unfriendly and seemed disinterested. When we reached the first snorkeling site, it was overcrowded with too many boats and divers. This chaos continued at the second location with manatees and turtles, leading to confusion in our group as members mistakenly followed another guide. I've never encountered such disorganization while snorkeling or diving before. Additionally, I was concerned to see that the manatees were being harassed by other guides with cameras. Thankfully, snorkeling with life jackets is mandatory; without that, the situation could have been worse. In summary, more protection for animals through regulation, better organization, and enhanced safety measures are needed.
The excursion was excellently organized with timely hotel pickup. The crew on board was friendly and attentive. We were fortunate to spot a dugong and large turtles. It was an unforgettable experience.
During our time in Marsa Alam, we participated in a fantastic boat trip organized by the Reef Oasis Dive Club Marsa Alam at the Valtur Reef Oasis Suakin Resort. We had a great time on this well-structured and enjoyable excursion, which was filled with exciting moments. Observing dugongs and sea turtles in their natural habitat was truly a memorable experience. We extend our gratitude to Mahmoud, who, with his professionalism and helpfulness, recommended this trip. His advice significantly enhanced our time. We highly suggest this outing for anyone in Marsa Alam looking for a unique day at sea immersed in nature.
