4Full-day tour by boat through Corcovado National Park with hiking, exploring jungle trails, and wildlife spotting in small groups.
“We took a day trip to Sirena station with Jairo, and it was an amazing experience. Jairo is undoubtedly one of the most expert guides in Corcovado, showing a clear enthusiasm for the jungle and its wildlife. His ability to spot animals that I would have missed was impressive, and he provided a telescope for everyone to use. I suggest bringing binoculars as well. We encountered a baby sloth, a resting tapir, several coatis, a baby crocodile, a baby caiman, agutis, a basilisk, and all four types of monkeys. Our walk from around 8 to 11 a.m. covered about 3-4 miles on a flat, easy trail with numerous stops. Although it was muddy, we didn’t have to wade through water. It’s essential to wear closed-toed shoes; I initially wore Chacos and ended up with ant bites, so I switched to sneakers. There were a few mosquitoes, but they weren't too bothersome, and the forest canopy provided ample cover. We felt quite damp, especially following the boat ride. The boat ride from Puerto Jimenez to Sirena was a bit bumpy, likely due to unusually windy weather. We got soaked from a rainstorm, so wearing a raincoat is advisable. On the return trip, we were lucky to see dolphins and a yellow-bellied sea snake. Upon arrival at Sirena, the boat offers a wet exit, and there's a station to check backpacks and ensure you aren't bringing any prohibited items. They have running water bathrooms and a place to rinse off sandy feet. After our hike, we had an hour to enjoy lunch at Sirena station, which was quite picturesque with surprisingly nice restrooms. The meal was delicious, featuring rice, beans, veggies, and meat. As a vegetarian, I received a stuffed roasted tomato instead. There's also a gift shop with tasty cookies and high-quality coffee. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and had a fantastic day in Corcovado.”— Z7771PUcourtneym
5Two hours hiking in a private reserve, exploring the river at night for amphibians, reptiles, and nocturnal birds.
“Near Puerto Jimenez, our guide from OsaWild expertly took us across a precarious bridge into the nature reserve. With just the two of us in the group, he highlighted numerous insects, spiders, plants, and frogs that we would have missed on our own. This experience matched our expectations perfectly until we witnessed a frog struggling with a snake attached to its foot. We observed the snake slowly consuming the frog's leg, leaving us in awe of how it could fit such a meal in its small mouth. Before we finished our tour, we also spotted a sloth nursing her baby. Overall, we gained an intriguing insight into forest ecology, capturing photos that ranged from stunning to quite shocking. I wonder how often these events occur in nature.”— Roger S
6Two full days exploring Corcovado National Park with a qualified local guide—hiking, wildlife observation, and overnight at Sirena Biological Station included.
“Our guide Maikol in Corcovado National Park was fantastic. His friendliness and attention to detail, along with his evident passion for nature, made a significant difference. With his expertise, we spotted numerous animals we might have otherwise missed. The tour brought us immense joy, leaving us with wonderful memories. We truly appreciate this unique experience.
