Tours and experiences in Newark that work for travellers with children — pacing built for short attention spans, snack stops, and the kind of hosts who actually want kids around. Hand-picked by Rovostays from operators we've personally vetted.
1A day at Sesame Street Learn & Play, featuring hands-on activities with beloved characters like Elmo and Big Bird, designed for families.
2Access to North America's largest indoor water park, featuring a massive wave pool, body slide, and hydro-magnetic coaster, just four miles from New York City.
“This is the best water park and play area. My family and I had a fantastic day, and I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be returning soon.”— Kapilla_C
3Single-day admission to Nickelodeon Universe at American Dream, featuring over 40 rides, family attractions, and live entertainment.
“Our family visited America for the first time and had a fantastic experience. The indoor amusement park, located just outside the largest US city, was enjoyable, though quite crowded. We visited on December 29, and I was impressed by the cleanliness with all rides operational. The only reason I rated it 4 stars was due to the limited number of ride operators. Although the lines appeared short, the process for each ride took too long, with one ride taking nearly 7 minutes to restart despite empty seats available. The Paw Patrol Tower was a favorite among my kids, with fun, fast slides, and my 3-year-old is still talking about our picture with Marshall. Tip: arrive right when it opens at 10am, as it gets busier by noon and is very crowded by 2-3pm. I plan to return.”— Joe P
4All-day access to LEGOLAND Discovery Center — enjoy themed rides, 4D cinema, and interactive workshops across ten play zones.
“This place falls short of Lego's usual standards. It's quite small, and the promotional video does not match reality. We anticipated a few more attractions, perhaps a character meet and greet, to make the cost worthwhile. The play areas are often overcrowded and messy. While the Lego city and the 4D movie were impressive, you can only see three films if you plan your time carefully. The building workshop was enjoyable, but it's disappointing that kids can't take home their creations like they can at Legoland Florida. After spending over $100, we felt let down by not being able to keep a simple $5 Lego. This venue seems more suited for younger children, probably around 8 or 9 years old as a maximum. Additionally, the ride was quite brief, and the interactive wands didn’t function. There is a clear need for more attractions, especially given the price.”— WineGirlNYC
5Two hours on an NHL-sized ice rink in American Dream — includes skate and helmet rental for a family-friendly experience.
“My kids had a fantastic time, and I would rate it a perfect 10 out of 10. The experience was very accommodating for both small children and teens, and everyone loved seeing the seals. Thank you for this wonderful experience.”— Shari G
