Apartments near The Dubai Mall

Downtown Dubai is a compact district, but where you stay within it changes the walk. The towers immediately around Burj Khalifa and along the Fountain side of the district put you closest to the mall's main entrances, with some buildings connected via air-conditioned walkways. Homes along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard trade a slightly longer stroll for the Boulevard's cafés and evening buzz.

The Opera District, at the northern end of Downtown near Dubai Opera, and Old Town, the low-rise Arabian-styled quarter across from the mall, are both comfortably walkable too. Plenty of areas advertise themselves as 'near The Dubai Mall', but only Downtown Dubai actually surrounds it. Dubai Marina and JBR offer beaches and waterfront nightlife, yet reaching the mall from there means a metro ride or a drive along Sheikh Zayed Road. Bur Dubai and Deira are budget-friendly and great for the old souks, but they sit across the Creek, well outside walking range.

Hotels on Sheikh Zayed Road look close on a map, and some are, but the highway itself often forces long detours on foot. If The Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Fountain are the centre of your trip, staying inside Downtown removes taxis and metro timetables from the equation entirely — you simply walk over whenever you like, including for the evening fountain shows.

The area around The Dubai Mall is dense with hotels, but a serviced apartment suits most mall-focused trips better.
