Booking this tour was one of the best decisions we made, especially with Ian as our guide. It truly became the highlight of our week in Belize. The Tiger Fern Trail and waterfalls offered breathtaking views and a memorable experience. Ian was an excellent guide—knowledgeable, friendly, and entertaining. He accommodated our last-minute changes, allowing us to undertake a more challenging hike instead of rafting. His humor and the fantastic lunch he organized made the day even better. Barefoot Services was also very flexible with our travel plans, allowing us to schedule a full-day tour just a day in advance. They contacted us directly to confirm our pickup location and were quick to respond to any emails or phone inquiries we had regarding our reservation changes.
Our excursion through the nature preserve was extraordinary. Our guide, Jimmy, was exceptional and made the drive engaging with his vast knowledge of the country. He connected well with our boys, aged 9 and 12, providing encouragement and accommodation throughout the trip. We never felt hurried; even with a set itinerary, the experience felt open-ended. Jimmy quickly bonded with us and understood our boys perfectly. We enjoyed hiking, river tubing, swimming at a waterfall, and a fantastic local lunch at a hidden gem that only someone local would know about. While there might be other good guides, we were fortunate to have the best. Saying goodbye to him felt like parting with a friend when we reached our hotel. We look forward to reconnecting with Jimmy and the Barefoot team on our next visit to Belize.
We had a fantastic day with our guide, Jimmy. He was both knowledgeable and flexible, which enhanced our experience. The hike, waterfall swim, and river tubing showcased the stunning beauty and vibrant culture of Belize. This tour was ideal for our family of four, with boys aged 9 and 12. The tasty local meal at the end was the perfect conclusion to our day.
Chris and Ian were outstanding in guiding our family of 11, spanning an age range of 76 years. At one point, Chris even carried our two toddlers on his shoulders while pointing out a troop of monkeys, with the grandparents following closely. He assisted us through the mud, tended to scraped knees and mosquito bites, and patiently explained various insects and plants, addressing all our numerous inquiries. It felt like we had his complete attention and time. Overall, it was a fantastic experience with excellent guides.
Visiting the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and Jaguar Reserve was a truly memorable adventure. Although we didn't see a jaguar, the day was packed with excitement, learning, and enjoyment. Our guide Ian was excellent and very knowledgeable. He shared engaging stories about Belize's history and offered insights into contemporary Belizean culture and cuisine. Along the journey, he educated us on medicinal plants in the rainforest and even allowed us to sample a few, including what he humorously referred to as the "protein of the rainforest," adding to the uniqueness of the experience. For lunch, Ian treated us to delicious local dishes, which were especially satisfying after a refreshing swim in a waterfall. He also provided us with several hiking options to choose from, which we greatly appreciated. We opted for tubing as well, which was a wonderfully calming way to conclude our day, gently drifting through nature. In summary, this tour perfectly blended nature, culture, relaxation, and fantastic food. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Belize.

Our experience with Barefoot Services was exceptional. After picking us up, our guide Ian shared an abundance of knowledge through history, cultural insights, and personal anecdotes, enhancing our understanding of Belize and its people. We explored the lush rainforest, enjoyed tubing on a tranquil river, and spotted numerous birds and howler monkeys. At the end of the day, we savored a delicious lunch from a local cook. On the way back, we visited an amazing chocolate shop. It was a truly enriching and memorable day. Be sure to wear long pants and sleeves, as the insects are a bother, and bring bug spray. Proper hiking shoes that can get wet are also essential. I highly recommend this tour.
