Four hours of kayaking in the Queen Charlotte Sound, exploring coves and beaches with a knowledgeable guide and a chance to see wildlife like seals and dolphins.
This half-day guided sea kayak tour offers an intimate exploration of the stunning Marlborough Sounds. Over four hours, you’ll paddle through the western area of Queen Charlotte Sound, gliding past sheltered coves, pristine beaches, and native bush. You'll receive insights into the area's history from your friendly guide, who ensures that groups remain small with a ratio of one guide per eight kayakers.
Keep an eye out for local wildlife; sightings of sting rays, eagle rays, various sea birds, and sometimes even little blue penguins and seals are possible. Depending on the day, you might also encounter dolphins. Bring sun protection and wear comfortable clothing suitable for the water.

It was a lovely journey with an excellent guide.
It was a lovely day spent kayaking with a knowledgeable guide. Perfect for those just starting out, and I even picked up some interesting historical facts during the trip.
Madison was fantastic! Her guidance was clear and straightforward. She possessed a wealth of knowledge about New Zealand's history, geography, and marine life.
My wife and I decided to do this calming kayaking trip in the morning prior to our afternoon ferry. It was a wonderful experience with Matt, our amiable and well-informed guide.
It was a lovely day filled with great experiences. After a brief drive and safety briefing, we were ready to start. We had a quick paddle sync, and then we were off. Although it rained a bit and it wasn't too warm, it was still enjoyable.
Kayaking in the Malborough Sound was an incredible experience. Helen's expertise on the local flora and fauna really stood out. We enjoyed stunning views, saw sting and eagle rays in a cove, sea stars feeding, and various birds around a bait ball. She provided clear kayak instructions and handled a situation with an unwell group member with great care. Hearing about her experiences and the region added depth to the trip. The kayaks were excellent quality. I highly recommend Wilderness Guides and Helen.
This was a fantastic kayaking adventure from start to finish, featuring stunning scenery and abundant wildlife. We encountered numerous stingrays, a variety of beautiful birds, starfish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and much more. Helen was an exceptional guide.
Our time in Picton was brief due to an early cruise ship departure, but we enjoyed this quick excursion. The guide was entertaining, and all necessary equipment was provided. We visited multiple coves, where we encountered local wildlife, including a few stingrays.
The day for sea kayaking couldn't have been better, with calm waters throughout. We spotted numerous stingrays resting on the sand and encountered an overabundance of sea urchins. Madison even managed to catch a starfish for us to admire. The views of the Marlborough Sounds from the water were fantastic, and we were the sole guests, making it feel like an extraordinary experience.
We enjoyed perfect weather with calm waters, which enhanced our experience. Our guide was delightful and very supportive. It was a fantastic outing.
