Two hours tasting five local dishes and one secret dish, all enjoyed from the warmth of the Skywalk in downtown Milwaukee.
This two-hour food tour brings you through Milwaukee's historic downtown via the Skywalk, where you’ll sample five local favourites, along with one secret dish. As you walk, you'll gain insights into the city’s rich Germanic culinary influences that shape its beer and cheese culture.
The tour runs year-round, but winter sessions allow you to enjoy the tastings in comfort, avoiding the elements. The meeting point is conveniently located in the downtown area. Be prepared for a variety of flavours as you explore both traditional and contemporary local cuisines.

This tour was fantastic. Taylor provided excellent insights into Milwaukee's history and interesting facts. All the stops featured local attractions. The food was delicious, and there was plenty to satisfy your appetite, so be sure to arrive hungry. Plus, it offers a pleasant walk around the city.
The tour was enjoyable, and the young guide provided a lot of information and fun. However, the disappointing aspect was that the operator stated the tour would end at a specific location, where we parked our car, but they changed the ending point without notifying us. After participating in the tour, we had to walk several miles and ended up turned around, which made it a frustrating experience.
The guide was very knowledgeable and even arranged for restaurants to provide substitutes since we don't eat pork. Overall, we had a fantastic experience.
Our group of six, consisting of both locals and tourists, really enjoyed this tour. Taylor was an excellent guide, sharing a wealth of history and providing us with plenty of delicious food. Thank you!
My girlfriend and I visited Milwaukee during Thanksgiving week in '25 and were thrilled to find Secret Food Tours operating there. After enjoying two previous tours in Portland and Charleston, I was eager to explore what Milwaukee had to offer. Despite the cold and snowy weather, our guide Taylor led us to four different locations, all of which were delightful, but the brat platter at a German beer garden was a standout. The tour also featured fish fry, Mexican corn, cheese samples, and ended with ice cream. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, but if you're from the West Coast like us, you might prefer this tour in the summer.
The food at the initial four stops was enjoyable and connected to the city's history and evolving demographics. However, the tour lacked depth, as the guide, not being a local, provided only brief information at each location. The walk along the riverfront was pleasant, but we received no context about it. The final stop was underwhelming; we expected cake or ice cream based on the tour photos but only had hot chocolate from a local café. While it was cold outside, hot chocolate is easily available everywhere and felt unremarkable. Overall, it was quite disappointing.
We visited five locations in the Third Ward with our guide, Alex, who was excellent. The cheese store offered free samples, and we purchased a bag of fresh cheese curds to share among ten. The next stop featured delicious German food served on two platters for sharing, which was awkward due to the group size. We received only four small slices of bread when we could have used at least one per person. The following stop was a very busy public market on a Saturday. While Alex ordered fried fish and cheese curds for us, the food was lukewarm and soggy by the time we received it. It took time for everyone to find seating for our group of ten. I suggest avoiding the market on weekends. We shared six pieces of fish among ten, which likely contributed to leftovers. Our last stop at Blue Bat was enjoyable, with enough portions for two, making sharing easier. We had a small cup of hot chocolate to finish. Although we typically love food tours, we won’t select this company again, as we didn’t leave feeling stuffed, and this should not be a reflection on Alex or the restaurants.
Tyler effectively keeps the tour engaging while addressing the group's questions and needs. He has a wealth of knowledge about the city and its surrounding areas.
Excellent food and a wonderful tour experience! Our guide, Taylor, was both knowledgeable and personable.
The Secret Food Tour exceeded my expectations. The food was tasty, the atmosphere lively, and the entire experience was well-coordinated. It offered a fantastic blend of delicious food, local history, and hidden treasures. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a distinct and enjoyable outing. Jennifer RY was exceptional.
