Our guide Marco shared extensive knowledge about the area before the truffle hunt. Leeza, our dedicated truffle dog, along with Enrico, was enthusiastic and ensured an enjoyable experience, finding four truffles. Marco then led us to a stunning winery for a private tour and tasting. It was a fantastic afternoon overall.
We loved our truffle hunting experience in October with the enthusiastic Enrico and his reliable dog Lisa. Strolling through the woods was an ideal way to spend the afternoon in Piedmont, especially after discovering three types of truffles. Our guide and driver Sander added to the adventure with his extensive knowledge and excellent language skills, and we learned about Barolo wines as well. While it wasn't inexpensive, it was truly worth it. Thank you to everyone involved.

The organization of the truffle hunt in Alba was outstanding, with everything running on schedule and clear communication beforehand. It's important to manage your expectations, as not every hunt will yield a truffle due to varying factors like location and the dog’s skills. We were fortunate, as our dog found three black truffles. Approaching it without high expectations made it more enjoyable, focusing on gaining experience and understanding the process.
This was certainly our top experience in Piedmont. Our guide Fay was fantastic—extremely knowledgeable, sharing insights on the wine, truffles, and the region, all while creating a really enjoyable atmosphere throughout the day. Turbo, the truffle dog, was an impressively well-behaved companion. If you enjoy hiking and being outdoors, this is a wonderful way to spend an hour exploring while learning about truffles, local flora, and culture. Typically, truffles are found in shaded valleys, making this a great outdoor activity on a hot Piedmont day. If possible, plan your visit during black truffle season, as they are more plentiful than the less common white truffles (Turbo discovered five in just an hour), and it's exciting to watch him get enthusiastic when he detects a scent. The Barolo Winery had a cozy, boutique feel that we preferred over some larger establishments. The wine cave tour was more laid-back yet informative, and the tasting felt incredibly welcoming, with our guide intuitively offering us some of the best Parmesan cheese we’ve ever had. Overall, we sought a tour that provided an authentic glimpse into Piedmont, and that’s exactly what we received. Fay, the dog, and the wine all surpassed our expectations. Highly recommended.

The trip to Lake Como was remarkable. We explored three distinct regions of Italy, each offering its own unique scenery, cuisine, and history. The truffle hunt was particularly enjoyable, with the hunter providing both entertainment and valuable insights. Watching the collaboration between the hunter and the dog was thrilling. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
