Children's Pool Beach — places to visit in La Jolla
Children's Pool Beach in La Jolla — view 2
Children's Pool Beach is a small cove in La Jolla, originally created as a swimming area for children in the 1930s by philanthropist Ellen Browning Scripps. Its sandy shore is protected by a seawall, which has made it a popular spot for sunbathers and families, as well as a habitat for harbor seals. Visit in late summer or early fall when the weather is warm and the water is more inviting for swimming. Be mindful of the seals during their breeding season, typically from December to May, as they often occupy the beach and can limit access. Nearby La Jolla Cove offers stunning views for a scenic stroll.
