We highly recommend taking the Road to Hana tour when visiting Maui. While it's possible to drive yourself, you'll miss many sights, and the road is full of sharp turns (over 620, apparently), making a guided tour a safer and more enjoyable choice. Our guide Malia was excellent, sharing lots of local history and personal anecdotes. She engaged everyone, maintained a cheerful demeanor, and offered helpful tips whenever asked. Some of the tour highlights included the stunning rainbow eucalyptus trees, multiple waterfalls, enjoying ice cream at Coconut Glens, and visiting the black sand beach. We were picked up at our accommodation at 6:30 am and returned around 4 pm; Malia's flexibility made the schedule a bit adaptable.

This tour is definitely a full-day adventure, so be prepared for a long day filled with all the highlights on the way to Hana. Our guide contacted us at 6:20 am in the hotel lobby, which was confusing since the booking with TripAdvisor stated 7 am, along with our confirmations. Thankfully, it all worked out. Our guide, Heavenly, was an absolute joy, sharing stories and smiles throughout the day until she dropped us off at 8 pm. We were on a full van, and she navigated the roads and stops effortlessly. The itinerary we followed matched what was advertised, which was great because we got to see all the key sights without any issues. It was a very enjoyable experience, and we highly recommend this tour. However, it may not be suitable for young children due to extended driving times, no bathroom breaks, and a strict schedule to fit in all the attractions. My husband and I joined a group of older teens, young adults, and older couples, which made for a perfect mix. All park entrance fees were covered, allowing us to relax and take it all in. Lunch was included, and while the large sandwiches were fantastic, the Spam and Rice were only slightly warm and quite small—definitely not a highlight. Overall, this tour was exceptionally well-organized and a great value.
