I highly recommend Mario as a tour guide. He is exceptional and incredibly knowledgeable, providing detailed insights into the cocoa farm process. The farm itself is a beautiful location, and we had the opportunity to make chocolate from scratch, which included roasting the beans, peeling them, and grinding them into a paste using a hand grinder. We also sampled unique drinks. The lunch provided was delightful, both tasty and beautifully presented. We crafted our own chocolate bars with various toppings according to our preferences, and the chocolate quality was outstanding. Meeting the cocoa farm owners was a great experience, and we could purchase chocolate bars at a very fair price. On our way back to Guayaquil, Mario took us to see highlights such as a church, a lovely street, and the iguana park, sharing the city’s history and answering all our questions about life in Ecuador. Our full day with Mario ran from 10 AM to 6 PM. Thank you, Mario; we truly appreciate your country!
Mario leads an exceptional tour. We were promptly picked up from our hotel, and during our drive to the cacao farm, he shared insights about the Guayaquil area, including neighborhoods, city navigation, sightseeing options, local dining, industries, and life for the city's 3 million residents. He also discussed Ecuador's history, its diverse regions, seasons, and main exports. At the cacao farm, owner Rody guided us and let us sample various fruits from the cacao trees, all of which were delicious. We enjoyed a fun chocolate-making process and a lovely lunch before returning to the city. Our stops included Parque Seminario, the Catedral Metropolitana de Guayaquil, Mirador Bellavista, and a tour of the cemetery. It was an engaging and memorable day spent with Mario, and I highly recommend this tour.
The tour was fantastic. I traveled with my adult son, and since we only had one day in Guayaquil before going to the Galapagos, we were thrilled to choose this tour. Mario picked us up from our hotel and took us to a cocoa farm where we explored the various plants, made our own chocolate, and enjoyed a tasty lunch. Additionally, Mario showed us multiple locations in Guayaquil while sharing the city's history. He was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable, and conveyed his passion for the area.
We arrived a day earlier than planned for our Galapagos trip, so we opted for the all-day cocoa plantation and city tour. It turned out to be an excellent decision, as we enjoyed a fantastic day with our guide, Allyson, and our driver, Darwin. The plantation tour was not only interesting but also engaging, as we learned about the cocoa pod's journey from tree to our own handmade candy bars. Our enthusiastic host, whose family owns the plantation, provided a wealth of knowledge, and we savored a delicious three-course meal before heading back. For those who are cautious about food safety, it’s worth noting they used filtered water for cooking and lemonade. Allyson maintained her enthusiasm throughout our afternoon walking tour of the city, sharing a lot of information in an enjoyable way. Overall, this was a remarkable day and one of the best investments we've made in tours.
Our guide, Allyson, picked us up from our hotel, and we headed to Finca Cumanda. Rody provided detailed insights into cocoa cultivation and the various fruits on the farm. Roasting cocoa beans and making our own chocolate was an enjoyable experience. The lunch at the farm was superb. We concluded with a city tour in Guayaquil. I highly recommend this experience.
Our guide, Antonio, was excellent and readily answered my extra questions about Ecuador that weren't specifically related to the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the farm, and as others have noted, the lunch was exceptional. My child especially loved making his own chocolate and learning about its production process. The Guayaquil tour gave us a good sense of the city, and we felt secure with our guide's advice on where to go. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Guayaquil.
My wife and I enjoyed a full-day Guayaquil tour led by Antonio Escobar. We began with a visit to a nearby cocoa farm where we explored local fruits and participated in the cocoa production process, including harvesting, roasting, grinding, and tempering. Rosa guided us while Antonio provided translations. Tasting the fruit at every stage was enlightening, and we had a delicious lunch at the farm. Following that, Antonio took us around the city to the cathedral, Iguana Park, Malecon, and the historic districts. His insightful descriptions and historical context revealed aspects of the city we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Throughout the journey, Antonio ensured we felt safe and well cared for. We truly appreciate this remarkable experience in your city.
Mario demonstrated exceptional thoroughness, knowledge, and thoughtfulness throughout the tour. Climbing 444 steps was easy, and the view at the top was quite pleasant.
The tour was fantastic and very insightful. My son had really wanted to do this, and it turned out to be his favorite experience during our week in Ecuador and the Galapagos. Mario was knowledgeable and exceptionally accommodating to our needs. When my son got too warm, he found a spot with air conditioning for him to cool off. Although we were scheduled for a walking tour of the city, my son preferred to spend extra time at the cacao farm, and Mario was flexible with that. On the way back, my son fell asleep, so instead of the walking tour of Guayaquil, Mario adapted the plan to a driving tour, allowing me to still enjoy the city's sights. I have no complaints at all; everything was perfect.
Diving into Ecuadorian culture with a local guide was an incredible experience. We gained a true insider's perspective on a place we knew little about. Allyson was an outstanding ambassador for Guayaquil and Ecuador. The cacao farm and chocolate experience were top-notch, and the lunch was excellent. Overall, it was an amazing experience from beginning to end.
