The opportunity to see the ruins was fantastic, but there were some organizational issues. At check-in, the operators appeared confused, creating a chaotic scene as people rushed to complete forms and manage the vans. Our first driver didn't engage with us at all. The guided tour of the ruins was fantastic, though I wished for more personal exploration time, which wasn't the fault of the operators. After the ruins, we were transferred to a different van with minimal instructions. We then went to a beachside restaurant to unwind and swim, but once again, the setup was disorganized. Although they had taken our meal orders in advance, the serving was slow. The food itself was enjoyable. On the return journey to the cruise port, our driver was much more communicative and friendly, although the conversation was entirely in Spanish, which I don’t understand. This tour could be outstanding if the company improved its organization; too much time was wasted waiting for them to sort things out.
Our first stop was the Chacchoben ruins, which were stunningly located in a jungle-like setting. They were quite impressive, though the guide was difficult to understand. After that, we traveled by bus to Bacalar, known for its beautiful lagoon of seven shades of blue. The guide didn’t accompany us, but the driver pointed out the route. It was a lovely location, and we enjoyed a pleasant lunch along with two drinks, either beer or cocktails. We returned to our cruise ship just in time.
Our group of four adults and four boys aged 9 to 12 enjoyed a fantastic tour of the ruins and the 7 Colours Lagoon. The guides were both friendly and knowledgeable, and the included lunch exceeded our expectations in quality. One standout for me was the pineapple from a fruit stand, enhanced with tajin and jalapeño powder.
Our driver, who went by the nickname Wizzi, was fantastic. We explored the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins and the Seven Colors Lagoon during this roughly six-hour trip.
Our tour with Huitzi was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, providing us with plenty of information. We truly appreciated the experience.
Tucán Tours has a remarkable team of professionals who truly care about ensuring a great experience. We traveled in an 8-seater van to the Chakkoben ruins and Laguna Bacalar. Our guide and Aztec driver, Huitzi, was incredibly kind and professional, guiding us through the Maya adventure and to Hotelito el Paraíso for a delicious Mexican lunch of fajitas and a wonderful margarita. There’s nothing I would change about Huitzi; he was exceptional. I hope others get the chance to experience him and this travel agency.
This shore excursion was fantastic. It was easy to locate just outside the port, and the directions were precise. The friendly staff made us feel welcome, and our driver was dependable. The tour guide was not only knowledgeable but also entertaining. The lagoon was serene, and the lunch was superb. I appreciate the excellent service and tour.
The tour was well-organized, offering clear directions to the meeting point right outside the cruise port. It involved over an hour's bus ride to and from the ruins, with around an hour to explore three different areas. A highlight was seeing monkeys in the trees. The bus driver was friendly and provided tasty pineapples during lunch. With my gluten allergy, they were very accommodating, allowing me to have tacos with vegetables instead of the typical shells. The lakeside resort area was lovely, where we could relax, swim, and enjoy lunch for about an hour and a half before another hour-long drive back to the ship. After the tour, we had 30-45 minutes to walk back from the bus drop-off to the cruise ship. Although we were a bit anxious, we made it back without any issues. Overall, it was a pleasant outing for those interested in ruins and history, despite the considerable driving involved.
The driver was friendly, and the tour offered beautiful views.
We had a fantastic experience! Our guide, Huitzi, was exceptional and went above and beyond to assist us. The temple was impressive, and the blue lagoon was stunning. He ensured we returned on time for our ship.
