Ocean Beach Pier is a 1,971-foot structure that extends out over the Pacific Ocean, making it one of the longest concrete piers on the West Coast. Completed in the 1960s, this spot offers panoramic views of the coastline and the chance to see local fishermen casting their lines against the backdrop of the ocean and city. Visit during the late afternoon for stunning sunset views, when the light reflects beautifully off the water. The pier is adjacent to Ocean Beach, a laid-back neighbourhood known for its surf culture, eclectic shops, and the popular OB Dog Beach, where dogs enjoy the surf alongside their owners. Consider bringing a light jacket; it can get breezy out on the water.
“The NALA was a new and pristine vessel. With only 27 ticket holders, it felt uncrowded. We were sheltered from the wind and sun while enjoying good views. The internal area had flexible plastic windows, so the clearest views were from outside that section. The crew was amicable. We spotted a pod of dolphins twice and one fin whale. While guests can't access the top deck for aerial views, the sea level perspective was enjoyable. Two hours is ideal if you see a whale; perhaps three hours would be better otherwise, though we extended our trip by 30 minutes to find the whale. A nice touch was the free fin whale sticker they provided at the end. The bathroom facilities were functional and clean, although we did not buy any food or beverages.”— JackieK635 who visited Ocean Beach Pier on a Rovostays-listed tour
