Annecy on a fork. Walking food tours through the markets, cooking classes with local chefs, tasting flights at the bars worth your time, and a couple of long lunches that double as the day's plan.
1Two and a half hours of leisurely walking — explore Annecy's Old Town with a focus on local cuisine and wine, with stops for optional tastings.
2A full-day guidedprivate tour focusing on the Aravis massif and Chamonix, including a Savoyard lunch and cheese tasting.
“We have traveled extensively across various continents, yet this tour stands out as truly exceptional. The weather was perfect for our late spring excursion. The highlight was a stunning cheese farm perched above the Aravis Valley, where the views were enchanting. We found the cheese-making process to be fascinating, as the kind owners guided us through each step, starting with a visit to the cows in the field. They craft three traditional types of cheese, which we got to taste along with lovely wine and great company. Afterward, we headed to Chamonix for lunch and a tour. At Restaurant le Monchu, we enjoyed delicious Savoyard dishes like fondue, brasserie meals, and exquisite soups and salads. Our guide, Bernadette, was both knowledgeable and pleasant. She was determined to help us catch a glimpse of Mt. Blanc by waiting for the clouds to clear, allowing us to capture the ideal photo. Chamonix itself is charming, with a rich history that enhances the overall experience. Lastly, Lionel, our guide, graciously led us through these remarkable sites and made the day enjoyable. We liked him so much that we decided to hire him again the next day to visit the Gorge de Fier, which we highly recommend. Don't miss out on this tour! Working with 1786.Travel was a pleasure, and their communication was efficient and comprehensive.”— Christine T

4Three hours of market exploration followed by a cooking class in a local's home, featuring fresh, organic ingredients and a modern French meal.
“I spent a delightful day with Alexia. We visited the market to gather all the necessary produce, then headed to her apartment for a cooking demonstration. Alexia is passionate about using natural foods, incorporating seeds, grains, spices, and organic ingredients. We enjoyed a tasty lunch together and had a great conversation. At the market, Alexia introduced me to her favorite suppliers and provided recommendations for restaurants and shops. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.”— Jane_B
5Two-hour private tasting session — sample five Savoy wines and five local cheeses with expert guidance.
“Combining ideas with experiences is ideal for me, and the senses of smell and taste are exceptional. The insights into the region's history and its influence on local wines and cheeses were captivating. We sampled various products and were guided through the tasting process with engaging questions. Our hosts were incredibly warm and generous, making it feel like a cozy afternoon in their kitchen. This was truly my favorite experience during our recent trip to France.”— cohata26
