2Two hours on a Segway around Annecy — a mix of urban and lakeside routes, with a small group of up to 8 participants.
“As a fan of Segway tours, I was excited to explore Annecy, but this experience was the most disappointing I’ve had. Although Annecy is a stunning town with a rich history, this 2-hour tour failed to highlight its beauty. The guide was uninspiring and offered very little commentary. A knowledgeable guide can enhance the experience significantly, but here, there was minimal effort to engage with us or share insights about the city's culture, cuisine, or past. During the first hour, we rode at a slow pace with scant narrative. After that hour, we awkwardly returned to the starting point to drop off the participants on the 1-hour tour, which disrupted the flow. In the second hour, we traveled along the river to a blue bridge where we stopped for five minutes. The guide mentioned there would be "nothing to say," setting a dull tone. We arrived at a spot littered with beer bottles and were told to take pictures. This part felt more like a leisurely walk than an active tour, lacking depth and engagement. At no point did we receive suggestions on local dining or specialties to try, such as tartiflette or reblochon, nor did we learn much about Annecy’s rich history. Another couple on the tour remarked on how superior the walking tour was, which provided historical context and valuable recommendations. I now understand their point. For those new to Segways, the 1-hour option might be enjoyable for its novelty. However, for returning riders or those wanting a deeper understanding of Annecy, the current 2-hour tour format is not worth the time or expense. Segway tours should be engaging and led by enthusiastic guides who love their cities, but sadly, this was not the case in a place that deserves so much more.”— A F
