Grand Prismatic Spring

Yellowstone National Park, USA

Grand Prismatic Spring — places to visit in Yellowstone National Park
Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park — view 2
Grand Prismatic Spring is the largest hot spring in the United States, spanning over 370 feet across and boasting brilliant bands of color due to the presence of heat-loving microorganisms. Located within the Midway Geyser Basin, its vivid hues of blue, orange, and green are best appreciated from the nearby overlook, where visitors get a sweeping view of this natural wonder. Visiting in the morning can offer a quieter experience, as the steam often rises in thick clouds, obscuring the view, while the cooler temperatures enhance the vibrant colors. Be mindful of the delicate ecosystem; staying on designated paths is crucial. The nearby Excelsior Geyser is another notable feature of the area, adding to the park’s geothermal activity.

Flexible summer photo safaris in Yellowstone led by an experienced nature photographer, tailored to your interests in wildlife, landscapes, or nature.

Spending the day with Brian from Brian Creek Photography was a true delight. His extensive knowledge of Yellowstone National Park made our experience memorable. He took us to prime viewing locations where we encountered bears, bison, pronghorns, elk, and many other wildlife species. In late May, we were fortunate to see playful bison calves and bears with their cubs, making it feel like a wildlife paradise. We also enjoyed watching chipmunks, Uinta ground squirrels, and marmots. We arranged this tour six months prior, and I was impressed by the attention Brian provided even before it began. He suggested podcasts and reading materials about the park, offered recommendations for accommodations and dining, and shared tips for our other destinations. On the tour day, he picked us up at 6 a.m. and dedicated the full 14 hours to showing us both the upper and lower loops of Yellowstone, along with detours to Lamar Valley and Cooke City. The engaging conversation covered everything from wildlife to the park's history, and we even referred to a bird guide to identify a few species. While our primary focus was on photography and wildlife, Brian also guided us through Yellowstone Lake and the geyser areas, which were another highlight. We enjoyed a lovely lunch by the Gibbon River, absorbing our beautiful surroundings. As a host, Brian stood out. His enthusiasm made the day even more enjoyable. From a photography standpoint, he provided invaluable advice on tripod use, camera settings, and optimal positioning for shots. He knew precisely when and where to be to capture the best light and improve our wildlife spotting chances. Although Brian drove, he was always quick to spot animals and assess whether to stop. We had ample chances to shoot photos through the window, resulting in great animal captures. I can't recommend a photography tour with Brian highly enough; it was certainly one of the best experiences of our western U.S. trip.E9306NTstephens on the Custom wildlife photography safari in Yellowstone tour

The tour was disappointing due to the lack of experience from our guide and a very chatty participant. They spent the whole day trying to outdo each other.dmcgov67 on the Full-day Yellowstone Lower Loop small group tour from Cody tour
