• The City Palace Museum in Udaipur is situated within the iconic, 450-year-old Palace, which was once the home to the rulers of Mewar. It was officially opened as a Museum for the public in 1969, thanks to the efforts of Maharana Bhagwat Singh of Mewar (r. 1955-1984 CE). The Mardana Mahal and Zenana Mahal of the City Palace were bequeathed to the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation (MMCF), a trust established by Maharana Bhagwat Singh. He also contributed a significant endowment to support the museum's establishment. Since then, the City Palace Museum has expanded greatly and attracts a growing number of visitors from around the world. • Udaipur, known as the City of Lakes, is surrounded by numerous lakes that enchant visitors with their blue waters and picturesque views. One prominent artificial lake in the center of Udaipur is Lake Pichola, constructed in 1362 AD. Named after the nearby Picholi village, Lake Pichola is among the most popular tourist spots in Udaipur. With islands, palaces, temples, mansions, ghats, and restaurants lining its shores, the lake offers a variety of attractions. The stunning sunrises and sunsets over the lake are sights that should not be overlooked by any visitor. • Jagdish Temple, a large Hindu temple located in the heart of Udaipur, just outside the royal palace, has been in continuous worship since 1651. Originally named the temple of Jagannath Rai, it is now referred to as Jagdish-ji and is a significant landmark in Udaipur. Additionally, several major tourist sites in India uphold the customs and traditions of their cities by preserving art and crafts. Various art and crafts festivals are organized to showcase and foster the skills of traditional artisans with pride. Shilpgram, designed in the traditional architectural style, offers an ambiance reminiscent of rural markets. The small mud huts made from natural materials reflect the ethnic diversity of western India while providing workspace for local artisans, making the area vibrant. • India is home to numerous lakes, with Udaipur featuring five of its most beautiful: Udai Sagar Lake, Lake Pichola, Jaisamand Lake, Fateh Sagar Lake, and Rajsamand Lake. These lakes together enhance the city’s charm and appeal. Lake Fateh Sagar is particularly notable for its still waters, which reflect the tranquility of nature. The gentle ripples and clear reflections provide a calming experience, marking it as one of the premier locations to visit. • Perched on the Bansdara peak of the Aravalli hill at an elevation of 3100 feet, Sajjangarh Palace is constructed from impressive white marble. Maharana Sajjan Singh originally envisioned the palace as nine stories high, but following his untimely death, the project was halted. It was later finished by his successor, Maharana Fateh Singh. The royal family utilized Sajjangarh Palace as both a hunting lodge and a vantage point to observe the monsoon clouds, which is why it earned the nickname Monsoon Palace. • Karni Mata Temple is another notable tourist attraction in Udaipur, offering visitors a scenic sunset view from its location.
