What's the itinerary?+
• The journey begins with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Udaipur, followed by a drive to Eklingji, located roughly 20 km away from the city. • Upon reaching Eklingji Temple, you will have a few hours to explore this famous temple complex. Eklingji Temple is a Hindu temple complex in Kailashpuri, Udaipur, Rajasthan, and serves as the Kula Devata for the Mewar Dynasty. Built in the 8th century by Bappa Rawal, the temple faced destruction during the invasions by the Delhi Sultanate. It was renovated in the 14th century by Hamir Singh, who also installed the first existing idol. It was reconstructed in the 15th century by Rana Kumbha, who added a Vishnu temple, and later rebuilt by Rana Raimal after an attack by Ghiyath Shah in the late 15th century, using the ransom received from Ghiyath Shah. Originally part of the Pashupata sect, the temple transitioned to the Nath sect in the 16th century. After concluding your visit to Eklingji, you will move on to Nagda. • In Nagda, the Sahasra Bahu Temples, also known as Sasbahu Temples, are a pair of 10th-century Hindu temples dedicated to Virabhadra. They share a common platform, with the larger temple surrounded by ten smaller shrines and the smaller one by four. These temples exemplify Māru-Gurjara architecture, featuring a sanctuary, mandapa, open porch, and brick shikharas. Although much of the exterior is simple, the interiors and porches are richly adorned. The smaller temple boasts a restored shikhara, while the larger remains truncated. Locally, the temples are referred to as Sas Bahu, a distortion of Sahasra-Bahu, meaning "One with a thousand arms," a form of Vishnu. Nagda was historically significant as a city of Mewar, potentially serving as its capital, until its destruction by Iltutmish in 1226. Additionally, nearby is the Adbhutji Shanthinath Jain Tirth or Nagahyuda Jain Mandir, an ancient Jain site. The temples are recognized as heritage monuments by the Archaeological Survey of India.
