There was some confusion regarding the pickup location; I had to walk outside the port area to find the driver since they couldn’t enter that zone. Once in the vehicle, it became clear that there weren't any good snorkeling spots or worthwhile beaches near Suva. We visited the falls, which were essentially man-made areas possibly created from runoff, and I was unsure about the water source. The walk through the forest was unsuitable for those who aren't agile. While I did take a dip to cool off, I felt the visit wasn't necessary. We also went to the museum and I paid extra for entry, but I believe it wasn't worth any fee. The only highlight of the day was the souvenir shopping, but the lines were very long; if shopping isn't your interest, this stop would be disappointing. The driver was friendly and candid about the lack of activities near Suva, suggesting other islands with better beaches and more tourist attractions.
I had an excellent time with Peter, discovering the plants and animals in the nature reserve and learning about Fiji. Peter is genuinely interested in everyone he meets and goes above and beyond. It was a great experience!
Communication with the company was exceptional prior to our meeting. Even without internet access for about 10 days, we had no trouble connecting as they were at the pier right on schedule. Our guide, John, was very attentive to all our numerous questions. We enjoyed exploring the city's sights, visiting the museum, and had ample time to hike and swim in the rainforest. The day concluded with a fantastic Fijian lunch at a unique spot recommended by John, which turned out to be the best meal of our trip, surpassing our onboard dinners. This was truly the highlight of our cross-Pacific cruise. Thank you, Peter and John, for sharing the authentic experience of Fiji with us.
When you disembark from the cruise ship, you'll find yourself surrounded by locals eager to sell various tours, ranging from one to two hours or even longer. Be sure to negotiate the prices they offer.
John and Ester were fantastic. John's deep understanding of Fijian culture allowed us to explore several spots we might have missed otherwise. We asked to see an orphanage, and they found one for us to visit. This tour turned out to be one of the highlights of our time in Suva, especially since our cruise ship schedule limited our time to experience the authentic side of the city. Thank you for a wonderful day.
There was significant confusion during the port pickup, as nobody was holding a sign with our name or the company's name. We had to ask around to locate our contact. Although the guide was knowledgeable, the planned itinerary was not adhered to. Since this was a private tour, we had outlined our interests, but it became clear that what we wanted to see was not feasible within the time constraints. We should have been informed in advance about the schedule so we could prioritize our must-see spots. As a result, we felt let down by the limited sights we experienced.
John proved to be a fantastic driver and guide, taking me on a thorough tour of Suva and the surrounding villages. It was an impressive experience that I highly endorse for others.
Our guide Sam met us at the port and carefully coordinated our tour, allowing us to maximize our time in Fiji. He was thoughtful and patient throughout the day. Thanks to Sam, we had a fantastic experience.
Kay Services Tours was a complete disappointment, although the representative, Emi, was pleasant. We paid $244.35 for a private tour of the Port of Suva, booking reference #1379648143. The driver was unprofessional; after we told him our payment amount, he angrily revealed he only received 80 Fiji Dollars and implied we should tip him. We also had to pay an additional $20 US for a subpar museum, which was supposed to be included in the ticket. After the museum, the driver left us to walk back to our Celebrity Cruise ship, the Solstice, with a hostile farewell. The forest tour was terrible, with pools that resembled sewage, and the state of Suva overall felt neglected. I have no interest in returning.
The tour was excellent, covering the rainforest, Nausori market, and Suva city. John made for a fantastic guide. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
