Full-day, guided tour of Suva — explore landmarks, including the President’s Residence and Albert Park, with options for shopping and dining.
This guided tour of Suva offers a flexible itinerary based on your interests, though it is not a private experience. Highlights include the President’s Residence and Albert Park, where the historic aviation event of Kingsford-Smith landing took place in 1928. You'll also visit the tranquil Thurston Garden adjacent to the Fiji Museum, which serves as a peaceful escape amid the city’s hustle.
The tour allows time for shopping at the municipal market, where local flavours and crafts abound. Lunch options include a variety of cuisines such as Chinese, Indian, and seafood. To tailor the itinerary to your preferences, it’s important to advise your area of interest at least three days prior to the tour.
Reviews
We arranged this tour during our cruise stop in Suva. Despite some past negative comments, we didn’t face any of those issues. I communicated with the company multiple times prior to arriving, and they adjusted our itinerary based on our request to exclude the waterfall. All my questions were answered promptly, especially when our port times changed just a day before arrival, and I received a revised schedule within an hour. Upon meeting at the agreed location, we were swiftly picked up by Peter, the company owner, in a clean, modern vehicle with efficient air conditioning. Our visit on a Sunday presented some challenges since many places were closed and rain limited outdoor options. Nonetheless, Peter expertly showcased Suva and surrounding areas, taking us to an open market for local goods and to the museum, which was also accessible. He possesses extensive knowledge about Fiji, its culture, and its global influences, sharing insights even on current issues like drug trafficking from Asia, which I later saw reported in the Washington Post. We had a wonderful afternoon with Peter and highly recommend this tour.
The organization of the excursion left much to be desired, with all guides arriving late at the meeting point. We stood under the hot sun for 20 minutes at the port exit. The only highlight was the taxi driver we hired, who was very attentive to our needs. Unfortunately, the young woman from Kay Tours was unhelpful and more focused on her phone than assisting us. If it weren't for the waterfall, those four hours would have been wasted. It feels like time and money were squandered.
The island is stunning. Despite some less than ideal weather, we managed to see quite a bit, including a lovely waterfall and various other attractions.
We disembarked from our cruise and connected with Peter for a fantastic day in Suva. His vehicle was spotless and comfortable, though it took a bit to adjust to the different driving side. Our trip to the nature park was quick, and Peter shared extensive knowledge about the local area and its culture. Once at the park, we enjoyed a delightful hike to stunning pools for a refreshing swim, arriving ahead of the larger tour groups, which let us relax without feeling rushed. After the hike, we visited a local market where Peter knew many vendors, allowing us to taste various products and learn about local farming. We then asked for recommendations for a good local meal. Despite it being Sunday with many places closed, Peter found us an excellent restaurant and even joined us for lunch.
This tour was marketed as a "fully customizable private tour" starting at 1:00pm. Upon exiting the Suva port, we encountered numerous individuals offering tours and taxis, but none held a sign for us. Eventually, someone found us and arranged for us to be picked up about 20 minutes later by a taxi, taking us to the National Forest, where we joined a group that had already begun the tour. We missed the waterfall since that group had already visited it. Then, we were taken to a town outside of Suva to visit the market, followed by a trip to the Fiji Museum before returning to the port. The tour company's owner explained that "customizable" meant we should have responded to an email sent a few days earlier to specify our preferences, but we never received any email. While the tour was interesting and the operator was apologetic regarding the confusion, the experience did not meet our expectations.
The guide was both friendly and knowledgeable, fluent in French and English. We enjoyed a leisurely walk along the trail to the falls, making our way up and down at a comfortable pace.
We had a lovely experience; the location is stunning. Our driver guide, Joel, made our day enjoyable with his informative commentary and cheerful demeanor. We'll cherish our memories of Fiji. Thank you once more. Domy Thierry Eric Isabelle.
The guides were friendly, but the experience was quite disappointing. The listing claims it's a "Private Tour," yet we were crammed into shuttles with other groups. The supposed "customizable" features were absent as we were hurried out of the waterfall after just 15 minutes of swimming and then left waiting for 30 minutes for transport. We decided to cut the tour short due to the frustration, only for the driver to take us on an unnecessary long detour through a local neighborhood we hadn't requested. This was an unneeded addition to our time. The management should update the description to clarify that this is a shared shuttle service, rather than a private tour.
Joel was an excellent guide. The trek to the falls was beautiful, but parts of it were narrow, challenging, and slippery. The swimming pool was fantastic! However, the excursion's title was misleading since it is a small group tour.
We didn't visit the waterfall, which was what we were looking forward to. Our guide, Mike, had his own itinerary. We spent too much time in the van, at the vegetable market, and at Jack’s retail. Customization was not as we had hoped.
