• Emperor Jahangir constructed the well-known Shalimar Bagh as his envisioned project to satisfy his queen. He expanded the ancient garden in 1619 into a royal garden, naming it ‘Farah Baksh’ (‘the delightful’), specifically for his wife Nur Jahan (‘light of the world’). • The Nishat Bagh is a terraced garden with 12 levels situated near the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar. It was designed by Asif Khan, the elder brother of Empress Noor Jahan, and opened to the public in 1633. The garden is positioned alongside Dal Lake with the mountain Zabarwan in the background. • This is one of the Mughal gardens created in 1632 AD around a spring by Ali Mardan Khan, who was a governor under Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It served as a gift for his eldest son, Prince Dara Shikoh. • This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is regarded as one of the oldest shrines in the Kashmir Valley. It bears the name of the renowned philosopher Shankaracharya, who visited the region approximately 1,000 years ago. • A visit will be made to the most well-known mosque in Srinagar, which, according to local beliefs, holds the Moi-e-Muqqadas – the sacred hair of Prophet Muhammad's beard. The Hazratbal Mosque is notable for being the sole domed mosque in Srinagar, featuring a fusion of Mughal and Kashmiri architectural elements. Its prominent white marble exterior and tranquil surroundings enhance its reputation as a serene site for worship and contemplation. • A Shikara, or wooden boat, ride will take place on Dal Lake, often referred to as the "Jewel in the crown of Kashmir." The lake is famous for its vibrant houseboats that offer unique lodging options, intricately adorned, providing insight into traditional Kashmiri life.
