Shankaracharya Temple is an ancient Hindu shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, perched atop Shankaracharya Hill at an elevation of 1,000 metres. Originating in the 9th century, the temple features impressive stone carvings and a sacred tank, offering panoramic views of Srinagar and Dal Lake from its summit.
Allocate a couple of hours to navigate the steep path, which comprises around 270 steps. Early morning or late afternoon visits provide ideal lighting, and the surrounding gardens reflect the tranquillity of the site.
