This was an incredibly enjoyable experience. We met our guide Lou in downtown and picked up a few more guests on the way to the Musher camp. Lou provided plenty of history about the area and pointed out various eagles and wildlife. Upon arrival at the camp, we took a unique vehicle up the mountain. The dogs were thrilled to see us, knowing they'd get to run. After our trail ride with the dogs and the musher, Matt, we had the chance to meet the dog team and ask questions. The highlight was definitely snuggling with the puppies. Although we wished for more time with them, the visit was outstanding and very informative. I would highly recommend this excursion and would love to do it again if I return to Alaska.
It’s hard to know where to begin… everything was so well organized and professional! We had an amazing day filled with adventure. The dog sledding experience was truly unique. Our driver was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable about the history. Everyone loved it! The scenic ride to the location was breathtaking. This is definitely a must-do experience in Skagway!
For dog enthusiasts, this experience is a must. We relished the ride with the adult sled dog team and appreciated the chance to interact with them afterward. Meeting a few retired dogs and the energetic "teenagers," plus cuddling the puppies, was truly special. This experience feels reasonably priced for all it offers. Transportation was included, and our guide provided friendly, knowledgeable insights about the area. It's been my favorite activity so far.
The experience was fantastic. The ride up the mountain in the Unimog was enjoyable even before meeting the dogs. Arriving at the dogs, with four teams eager to go and making lots of noise, was incredible. The ride demonstrated the strength and endurance of the sixteen dogs that pulled us. Talia, our musher, shared insights on the care required for such a large team and mentioned that she owns all 16 dogs. She kindly took photos of us in the cart and captured close-ups of her dogs, which was a delightful surprise. Additionally, she helped me get my book 'signed' by one of the team when we returned to camp, for which I am thankful. Cuddling the puppies was the highlight of the trip for me, and they were as lovely as I had hoped. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it. I just wish there had been fewer stops to enjoy the scenery and more time spent meeting the team and with the puppies, especially since sharing was required.
We had an excellent experience. The tour guide who picked us up in town was fantastic. He provided plenty of information about the town and the sights we encountered during our journey.
The staff provided an incredible experience, with our musher sharing a wealth of fascinating information and patiently addressing all our questions. The dogs were delightful and eager to pull the sled, showing evidence of excellent care. The puppies were absolutely charming.
This adventure was the highlight of our Alaskan trip. We began with a bus ride where our guide shared insights about the area. Upon reaching base camp, we boarded a Unimog, a large truck with huge tires. The journey to the dog sleds was bumpy and somewhat thrilling, especially for those sitting on the edge, but the stunning scenery made it worthwhile. If you enjoy ATV rides, you’d find this experience similar. When we arrived, the dogs were eagerly waiting, harnessed to the carts. The rush of speed as we raced through the enchanting forest was exhilarating. After the ride, we met and petted the sled dogs, then returned via Unimog to a scenic overlook for photos. After some time there, we headed back to base camp where we met retired sled dogs and learned about their training for the Iditarod. We interacted with older puppies and even got to hold the youngest ones. Before leaving, we checked out the store and coffee shop, then returned to town. On the bus ride back, we learned more about the surroundings and kept an eye out for wildlife. I highly recommend taking part in this experience.
An excellent chance to interact closely with the Alaska Huskies. The experience was well-organized and the staff were very welcoming.
The AlaskaX crew was outstanding! Our family visited Skagway and participated in the Sled Dog & Musher’s Camp Adventure, which was simply fantastic. Our guide Cameron, driver Jason, and musher Stef contributed to making the experience remarkable. A special shout-out to Sarah for letting us hold puppies.
This tour is wonderful for families. We loved engaging with the mushers and interacting with the racing dogs. There was a fantastic viewpoint along the way, and the little puppies were simply adorable.
