Full-day tour including a scenic train ride and 6-8 miles of hiking from the White Pass to Laughton Glacier, through Tongass National Forest.
This full-day experience begins with a scenic train ride on the historic White Pass & Yukon Route Railway, taking you through stunning Alaskan landscapes. Following the train journey, the hike to Laughton Glacier is an out-and-back trail, typically covering 6 to 8 miles through the Tongass National Forest, depending on the pace of the group.
The trail has been carefully maintained by Packer Expeditions, who have spent over thirty years enhancing this route. With opportunities to walk directly on the glacier, this hike offers a unique perspective on Alaska's natural beauty. Participants should come prepared for varying weather conditions and wear suitable hiking shoes.

It was an ideal day filled with hiking and stunning views. Austin provided exceptional care, making the experience both informative and enjoyable. I would happily do this again.
The hike was the standout experience of our Alaskan trip. Our guide, Austin, was fantastic, equipped with everything we needed, such as rain jackets, snacks, a first aid kit, and hot chocolate. He even brought a drone to capture stunning photos and videos of our journey. The scenery was breathtaking, and our three kids, ages 10, 14, and 17, all had a great time. Austin especially connected well with our youngest, patiently answering all his questions. This excursion was the highlight of our vacation and a must for adventurous families. It was worth every cent.
Austin serves as an excellent guide, possessing extensive knowledge about Alaska and its glaciers. Walking on a glacier is a rare opportunity, and the hike through a stunning forest leads you right there. I highly recommend this experience, especially for those with moderate to advanced hiking skills.
Our family had an incredible experience. The tour guide was fantastic and provided everything we needed for the hike, such as snacks, hot chocolate, hand warmers, walking poles, and extra clothing. He shared a lot of knowledge with us and even captured drone footage that we could take home. The scenery was stunning, and we made several stops to take pictures and appreciate the surroundings.
We took a day trip during our Princess cruise and enjoyed a beautiful train ride followed by an incredible hike that was ideal for our kids aged 12 and 14. The hike included many thoughtful details and provided a wealth of educational insights. The amazing videos capturing our day were a delightful bonus. I highly recommend this experience.
We truly enjoyed our time on this tour. Our guide provided a fantastic insight into the region's ecology, local plants, and the glacier's history. It was a truly exceptional day.
The snowshoe trek along the Laughton Glacier path was immensely enjoyable. It required a good amount of effort, but it was absolutely rewarding. For those not in shape, using snowshoes in winter may pose some difficulties. Austin and Sam, our trek leaders, were knowledgeable, entertaining, and offered excellent encouragement throughout.
This was an exceptional experience. Austin, our guide, is incredibly knowledgeable and shared an abundance of insights. The views were quite impressive as well.
This experience was fantastic from beginning to end. The admission fee was reasonable considering what was included, and the excursion length was just right, though being in good physical condition is important if there's snow. The atmosphere was refreshing, spontaneous, and genuinely fun, avoiding the impersonal feel often found in commercial tours. With a group size of about 10, the entire experience felt both personal and manageable. The guides, along with the stunning scenery, were the trip's highlights. They were friendly, professional, and passionate, making the adventure truly memorable. This is ideal for those who are fit, enjoy nature, and seek a genuine outdoor adventure.
Austin and Sam guided our small group on an amazing snowshoe hike toward the glacier. Their friendliness and extensive knowledge made the experience enjoyable, and they really took care of us. I highly recommend this tour for exploring the backcountry.
