Our experience with this tour was quite disappointing. After being picked up at the port, we went to a jetty and then a temple, but there was little explanation about either site. Next, we were taken to Beach 2 Beach and allowed a brief 15-20 minute walk before discovering our car had left us. The guide informed us we would need to wait an hour, so we sat at a dining area as he mentioned his family owned the place and his wife would prepare lunch. The meal was enjoyable and of good quality, but after that, when the car returned, we were driven back to the port quickly with no further conversation or insights. Overall, we were very frustrated with the tour guide's lack of engagement, which did not meet the standards of our past experiences with other tours.
This was a terrible experience and not worth the money. We should have just taken a cab to the beach, which was the only enjoyable part. Finding the guide was difficult, and the vehicle was an old Lexus. The itinerary was disappointing, featuring a small temple, a 15-foot waterfall, and a dirty market where we only spent five minutes, before heading to the beach. After a decent lunch, we decided to cut the tour short by two hours. I suggest opting for a taxi to the beach instead of taking this tour.
This excursion was fantastic. Our amazing guide Kimmy met us at the gate, which requires a free shuttle to access. The fishing village was intriguing, accompanied by distinct smells. The Reclining Buddha was impressive, but the highlight for me was visiting the school. I recommend bringing simple school supplies like pencils, construction paper, or glue sticks, as the children were very grateful and it felt rewarding to contribute. The waterfalls were beautiful; we didn't swim but explored the area. Don’t miss out on trying the fried bananas from a local vendor—they are delicious. One unforgettable moment came while I was sitting on the beach talking with Kimmy. We discussed how each of us is blessed in different ways. He expressed a desire to travel like I do, and his smile grew as I shared that I ventured halfway across the world to experience what he sees daily. That heartfelt conversation made us both appreciate our lives a little more, highlighting our shared humanity despite our differences.
There are numerous new hotels being built with Chinese investment and labor, much like many initiatives in Africa. In a couple of years, the stunning beaches and surroundings will likely be "discovered."
I visited this place with TUI and was shocked by the amount of litter everywhere and the constant construction. It looks nothing like the photos. In my opinion, it's not worth going ashore.
I had a wonderful experience in Cambodia using the booking system. The guide was outstanding and shared a wealth of local knowledge. The driver was also great. Thank you.
The pier for Khog Samloen was highly disappointing. The experience was riddled with issues that detracted from what should have been an enjoyable outing.
Makara was an excellent guide, very engaging and well-informed. It was an enjoyable day filled with interesting history and some of the best local attractions.
Cambodia presents a fascinating perspective, positioned somewhat on the outskirts of mainstream tourism. Its economic and cultural diversity is striking. We experienced peaceful visits to beautiful, less-visited temples, explored impoverished fishing villages, and enjoyed lunch at a traditional restaurant. Our guide and driver were friendly and adaptable, creating a personalized itinerary as we went along. We gained valuable insights into the lives of the Cambodian people, and our guide was knowledgeable, helpful, and had a good sense of humor.
The tour offered fantastic insights into the key attractions of Sihanoukville, with comfortable transportation and a knowledgeable guide named Tom, who shared in-depth knowledge of Cambodian history and culture, particularly about the region. A delicious Khmer lunch was served at a local restaurant, and we had plenty of time at each site to appreciate the locations and their backgrounds.
