Kbal Chhay Waterfall
Sihanoukville, Cambodia

Kbal Chhay Waterfall is a cascading series of falls set amidst the lush greenery of the Cambodian jungle, located about 16 kilometres from Sihanoukville. The falls, often flowing with its fullest during the monsoon season, feature multiple levels that create natural pools for swimming, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists seeking a refreshing getaway.
Visiting the waterfall generally takes a couple of hours, with picnic areas available for a leisurely afternoon. It's best to go early in the day or during the wet season for optimal flow. Nearby, the tranquil setting is complemented by small local eateries where you can enjoy traditional dishes away from the busier coastal districts.

“This tour was quite the experience. The fishing port was intriguing, albeit slightly odorous, which is to be expected. The journey to the waterfall was unusual; we traveled on a dirt road for 8 kilometers and arrived at what was described as a "resort" consisting of tin shacks and run-down kiosks selling food that our guide, the helpful and engaging Mr. Han, recommended we avoid. The waterfalls were beautiful, though reaching them involved navigating some treacherous rocks, which fortunately weren't slippery. After that, we visited a roundabout featuring some large and interesting statues, followed by a stop at a beach where it was raining, prompting us to move on. Finally, we explored a vast market with many sights, including stalls operated by local hairdressers. Overall, it was a fascinating and somewhat unconventional tour, and we appreciated Mr. Han's guidance throughout.”— Richard_A on the Sihanoukville highlights shore excursion tour

“This excursion was fantastic. Our amazing guide Kimmy met us at the gate, which requires a free shuttle to access. The fishing village was intriguing, accompanied by distinct smells. The Reclining Buddha was impressive, but the highlight for me was visiting the school. I recommend bringing simple school supplies like pencils, construction paper, or glue sticks, as the children were very grateful and it felt rewarding to contribute. The waterfalls were beautiful; we didn't swim but explored the area. Don’t miss out on trying the fried bananas from a local vendor—they are delicious. One unforgettable moment came while I was sitting on the beach talking with Kimmy. We discussed how each of us is blessed in different ways. He expressed a desire to travel like I do, and his smile grew as I shared that I ventured halfway across the world to experience what he sees daily. That heartfelt conversation made us both appreciate our lives a little more, highlighting our shared humanity despite our differences.”— Diane_C on the Private full-day Sihanoukville shore excursion tour
