Half-day tour—start at a cacao farm, make chocolate with traditional methods, end with a swim at a nearby waterfall.
This half-day tour begins with a visit to a local cacao farm where the farmer shares the history of organic cacao cultivation and explains the process of extracting beans from the pods. Afterward, you'll head to an indoor chocolate-making facility where you’ll learn to create your own chocolate using traditional grinding stones.
The tour culminates with a refreshing swim at a nearby waterfall. Plan for a blend of hands-on chocolate-making and relaxation in nature. Be sure to wear suitable swim attire and comfortable footwear for the farm visit.

We had a fantastic time on this tour, which was tailored for our son with special needs, keeping physical demands minimal. Our guide, Israel, made special arrangements with the restaurant for a suitable meal for our son and was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging throughout. The visit to the Mayan chocolate farm and factory was both enjoyable and delicious. The waterfalls were stunning and ideal for swimming, just a quick hike from the parking lot. It was a truly delightful experience for our entire family.
The tour was incredible, led by the exceptional Basilio, or Bas, who shared extensive knowledge about Mayan history. He not only provided an insightful history lesson but also created an unforgettable experience for our group. The chocolate-making session was memorable, as we were warmly welcomed into a local home in a mountain village where we learned about the entire process and the benefits of cacao. The traditional food served was delicious. The day concluded at a stunning waterfall, where I felt completely comfortable and safe, despite being a non-swimmer. The deep area was designated for confident swimmers, but Bas went the extra mile by pulling me on a lifebuoy closer to the waterfall. Although I was frightened, I would gladly do it again because of his support. Our group was fortunate to have Bas again as our guide on another hiking excursion to another waterfall.
Our time in Belize was unforgettable. Israel was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly punctual and dependable, making our trip truly enjoyable. A special thanks to Alex for his keen observations during the Howling Monkey tour and for hosting our lunch at his family's home.
Israel was an exceptional tour guide. From the start, he informed us about the beauty, ecosystems, economy, and tourism of Belize. We enjoyed every detail on our journey to the Che'il Mayan Chocolate Center. Opting for the half-day tour was a great choice, and the cold water he provided was a nice addition. Israel's keen observation skills led us to a toucan for some memorable photographs. We would definitely want to tour with Israel and his company again.
Our day with Truly Wild was fantastic, thanks to our guide Israel. He made the excursion enjoyable and shared a lot of insights about Belize during our travels. We had a wonderful time.
I highly recommend these guys! We took part in a chocolate tour and a bioluminescent tour, and also used them for airport transportation. Their guides are fantastic, and I gained a lot of knowledge just from the drives.
The experience felt like two separate tours. The chocolate portion was decent, but it leaned more towards a demonstration rather than an interactive session. While we enjoyed learning about the process and the chocolate itself was good, it did drag a bit. The waterfall, however, was the highlight for us; the scenery was beautiful and there were hardly any crowds. If we could repeat the experience, we would choose to visit just the waterfalls and not partake in the chocolate tour.
Our tour with Kai was fantastic. Although we couldn't visit the waterfall, we enjoyed the chocolate tour, explored the ruins, and went to the spice farm. Kai was great at helping us spot unique birds, ensuring our safety around the ruins, and sharing his favorite music. Supporting local businesses while learning about Maya history was a rewarding experience. If we return to Belize, we will certainly book another tour with Kai.
I had a fantastic learning experience about chocolate production, including a visit to the farm and the authentic process of making chocolate.
We had an amazing experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring the cocoa farm, processing the beans, tasting the delicious cocoa fruit, and making their own chocolate. The waterfalls were perfect for cooling off. Our guide Rigo was fantastic with the kids and our family.
