This experience was incredible! Kat stayed in touch with us the whole time through phone calls, regularly motivating us to keep pushing for more points to boost our final score, which was great to track. We would certainly join another adventure led by Kat if we find ourselves at a place where she has created more amazing experiences. Just a note: we were two adults and one 7-year-old (our daughter) participating in the OBX - Gnarly Nags Head experience.
We coordinated everything through WhatsApp with our virtual guide MaryAnna, who gave us a list of missions and chances to earn bonus points. This enabled us to discover the area while having a local expert available for any questions we had. It was a fantastic afternoon of family fun, definitely worth doing if you're in Nags Head. Thank you.
The ladies at Gnarly Nags Head were incredibly charming, offering us encouragement and lively conversation. This is an experience everyone should attempt at least once. As a mother-daughter pair visiting from Indiana, we were unfamiliar with this activity but would gladly do it again. Most locations were conveniently close and accessible, opening up opportunities to explore new places as well. Overall, I give it a five-star rating and recommend it for people of all ages. Thank you, MaryAnna and Kat!
This experience was truly one of a kind and surpassed everything we had done before. We were pleasantly surprised by such a unique game! The hunt allowed us to explore local places, tap into our playful sides, and enjoy a lot of laughter together. I highly suggest this to anyone looking for a fun, silly way to spend time together. My mom, boyfriend, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We filmed many of our “missions,” which will let us cherish those memories for years to come.
We were looking for a fun way to spend the day and came across this activity. It turned out to be an absolute blast! We enjoyed visiting various locations and discovering new facts about the area. It was enjoyable for everyone, and we plan to participate in another one in a different region.
It was a total nightmare for our family of 19, ranging from kids to adults, who eagerly anticipated this adventure. However, we discovered there was no internet access in the Nags Head, NC area. Both the tour company and Viator refused to issue a refund. We had to drive about three miles in 97-degree heat to a closed restaurant. Fortunately, the manager let me use their Wi-Fi, confirming how poor the connectivity was, allowing me to reach out to both Viator and our contact for the scavenger hunt. I informed them via text that we couldn't participate due to the circumstances. While all adults had functional phones, the lack of internet made the game impossible. I couldn't understand why a refund wasn't available when we were unable to enjoy the event due to factors outside our control. Viator offered a credit of $278.20, but since we have no upcoming vacations, that didn't help. I felt incredibly let down because I usually rely on Viator to handle issues like this effectively.
I had the expectation that this would be more of a "game," focusing on searching and working through clues to advance to the next round. I found it disappointing to discover that it wasn't like that. I think it should be renamed something more fitting instead of a scavenger hunt—perhaps "memory makers." Considering the high cost, I felt it didn’t offer value for the money. I've learned to be cautious about signing up for similar activities, particularly in this region. It would also be nice to have some form of reward for the winning team at the end, even if it's not something expensive or elaborate.
It didn't meet my expectations. My wife and I mostly walked and drove around looking at sights. On the plus side, we did pick up some historical knowledge.
I’ve always been curious about these experiences, so when I came across one while vacationing in the Outer Banks for spring break, I decided to give it a try. Honestly, it was a bit different from what I anticipated. It took me a few minutes to grasp the format after receiving the document. I was somewhat disappointed by the automated responses we got after submitting videos or photos. Ultimately, it felt like the amount we completed didn’t really matter, which led to a loss of interest in the last 15-30 minutes. It was interesting to try once, but I doubt we would do it again. Perhaps it would be better in a city where locations are closer together, allowing for more walking between spots?
The experience was terrible and deceptive. I felt it was a scam. According to Blue Moon, they only hear inquiries about this group once or twice a year and claim they aren't associated with them. The visitors center is also unaware of them and doesn’t support their activities. Other trusted sources in the area consider them fraudulent and advise against using their services. I’m seeking a refund but have yet to receive a reply. I strongly advise against this.
