Paddling was generally easy; it required a bit more effort to return across the sound, but the kids managed just fine. I highly recommend this experience.
Originally scheduled for a sunset cruise, we were instead put on a river tour with the promise of a sunset. Unfortunately, there was no sunset and we encountered snakes in the water, which was not enjoyable for us.

We encountered various bird species and some nutria swimming nearby. The paddling was easy, as there were no strong currents to contend with. We did have a bit of a delay reaching the meeting point, as we underestimated the traffic coming from Kitty Hawk, which included some slowdowns and a minor accident. It's advisable to check your maps app for a better estimate of travel time from your location.
