05We'll begin our visit of the famous Sassi, a maze of cave dwellings that cover the lower part of this incredible city, which has been named the European Capital of Culture for 2019. Matera is a city perched not only on top of these incredible cave dwellings, but also above a dramatic ravine, with sweeping views over the landscape. Although there are buildings in ruins still, the city is vibrant with life and culture as many structures have been restored into beautiful cave hotels and restaurants. The time spent in Matera will be a walking tour with stops at Museo Casa Grotta, a renovated cave with period artifacts that gives the visitor a great sense of what life was like before its citizens were relocated out of the Sassi in the 1950s. We will also visit the beautiful Chiesa di Santa Lucia & the famous Santa Maria De Idris. We enjoy 3-course lunch in a local restaurant and visit to a winery and wine tasting.

08Visit of a traditional farm dating back to 1800, where, from 5 generation, different kind of cheese have been produced from the milk milked by its own grazing cows. It is possible to see the whole production process, from the manual milking of the “Frisona” cows to the cheese tasting. Our guests can also enjoy themselves : following the instructions of the Master Cheese Maker they can try to make mozzarella and fresh cheeses such as giuncata or primosale. Final tasting of fresh and seasoned cheeses with the honey produced in the farm and bread baked in a wood oven , with a good glass of local wine.
09We bring to your accommodation/holiday home one of the most important culinary traditions of Pugliese cuisine: HANDMADE PASTA. This experience will not only allow you to carry in your luggage back home the satisfaction of having been part of the preparation of 3 types of pasta with your own hands, but also to have learned techniques and tricks that you can put into practice to delight your family and friends on their way home. The experience includes the preparation of 3 types of fresh pasta: Orecchiette, Tagliatelle and a stuffed egg pasta, but the experience does not end here, for each type of pasta we will prepare a sauce/dressing for an explosion of flavor. At the end, all seated, to taste the prepared dishes, accompanied by a starter that our local chef will offer us.
10You can join with your own e-bike at no extra cost, or reserve an e-bike ready on site for €45, payable locally. The local products tasting is optional and paid on site (€14). Unless you communicate otherwise when booking, e-bikes and the tasting will be considered reserved for all participants. For children’s e-bikes, child tandems and child seats, please check “Included/Excluded”. Ride from Ostuni into its countryside on an easy e-bike route through centuries-old olive groves and authentic rural landscapes. You’ll discover curiosities about olive trees and the key steps behind extra virgin olive oil, from tree care to pressing. A local escort manages the route, stops and assistance, keeping a relaxed pace. You’ll stop at a countryside home surrounded by olive trees, where you can enjoy local products. The experience also includes a scenic 2 km hill walk. On the way back, you’ll pass through the historic center of the “White City”. Comfortable closed-toe shoes are recommended.
11A slow and pleasant journey aboard our Tuk Tuks along the path of the ancient Romans, along the Via Traiana. The experience will be a real historical re-enactment starting from the medieval village - where its history will be briefly explained - and will then extend towards the farms where the millenary olive trees of Puglia are present. You will have the opportunity to learn about the history of planting and the origin of the milling techniques, explained by our drivers. Upon returning, we will stop at the sales point of a farm to have a free tasting of extra virgin olive oil.
12Live an authentic experience in one of the few wineries involved in the relaunch of the Ostuni DOC, an ancient variety almost forgotten. In a place in the Valle d'Itra that is not only a winery but a symbol of authenticity, you will discover the values of the territory through a tour between environmental sustainability and innovation. All the products in the tasting come from nearby farms. The experience is aimed at an adult audience.
