This 4.5-hour jet boat safari takes you along the Sigatoka River, offering a chance to explore Fiji's interior from the water. The experience includes a visit to a local village where you'll be welcomed with a traditional ceremony. This provides an opportunity to engage with the villagers and learn about their culture.
The jet boat ride is the original of its kind in Fiji, allowing you to cover the stunning river scenery quickly. Dress comfortably and be prepared for water splashes; a waterproof camera is recommended. This outing presents a blend of adventure and cultural insight.

Book this trip without hesitation as it exceeds all expectations. The staff is skilled and prioritizes safety. The river journey is thrilling. Visiting the Fijian village was the highlight, offering genuine hospitality. It's also rewarding to know you're supporting the culture and growth of these ancient communities. Our family members ranged from 16 to 74 years old.
Our experience with Captain Fini was fantastic. From the hotel pickup to the check-in at their city office, everything was excellent. The ride with Lady Gaga and SpongeBob was entertaining, followed by a thorough safety briefing. The jet boat ride with Captain Fini was both fun and secure. We enjoyed the village walk, the kava ceremony, and the thrilling return to the base, along with a simple process for buying photos. We then transitioned to our second tour with Off Road Cave Safari.
This excursion is a must-do. It was enjoyable, educational, and surprisingly genuine in terms of culture. The village children are enchanting. With perfect weather, we had a fantastic time on the jet boat. Our guide was excellent and obviously connected to the community.
This experience is fantastic, offering both cultural insights and adventure. The natural landscapes are stunning, and the visit to the Villa provided valuable learning opportunities.
Our jetboat safari and village tour was the highlight of our vacation. Fabolous Freddie, our driver, was friendly and relatable, sharing insights about village life since he lives in one. He was both humorous and informative. The ride to the village was serene, with stunning scenery. Meeting the local people and children was the most rewarding part, offering a humbling perspective on happiness through simplicity. This was an exceptional experience. We travel frequently, and this ranks among our best excursions. It was a long trip from Sofitel Denarau, but absolutely worthwhile. If there's one activity to do in Fiji, make it this one. To top it off, Freddie gave us an exhilarating ride back with seven 360-degree spins on the jetboat. Be prepared to get wet if you're seated in the back, so it's wise to pack extra clothes and a towel.
We had a wonderful day. Fini, our captain, was an excellent driver; I would trust her completely. She is not only a lovely person filled with knowledge but also adept at handling the boat. The village tour was stunning, and while the kava ceremony took a while and the kids grew restless sitting cross-legged in the heat, it was a beautiful experience with lovely people. Thanks, Fini! We left at 8:30 am and returned to the resort just after 3, making it a longer day than we anticipated for a half-day tour. My only complaint is that I would have preferred to return a bit earlier to enjoy more time at the resort.
If you choose to do only one thing in Fiji, make it this experience. It was truly the most amazing day of my life; we visited a village, met the locals, participated in a kava ceremony, enjoyed food and dancing, and had an incredible time. Our guides, Captain, Leps, Ace, and Fini, were fantastic. Visiting a village in Fiji should definitely be a priority, and if possible, visit more than one. The jet boat ride adds even more excitement! I highly recommend this experience; you'll meet wonderful people, whether they are locals, the crew, or fellow travelers, and you’ll gain insight into the river and its inhabitants. Don't forget to bring plenty of water and be ready for lots of dancing!
The boat ride was anticipated to be a highlight of the trip, but it was the village experience that truly moved me. Seeing the children at play in the Sigatoka River, adults processing turmeric in the water, and little girls dancing with my husband really showcased the essence of Fiji. We were treated like royalty, and leaving felt like saying farewell to family. The speedboat ride was enjoyable as well. Thank you, Captain Jack!
We had an excellent experience throughout the day. Zac, our driver, shared a wealth of knowledge and was very entertaining. The boat ride with Captain Jack offered stunning views and wonderful local tales. The village visit exceeded our expectations, as the locals were incredibly accommodating. I highly recommend this day trip.
This experience was a wonderful blend of culture and enjoyment. I initially thought it would be mostly a commercial venture for a small community, but I was mistaken. We visited a remote island village where the locals warmly welcomed us and shared their lifestyle during the tour. We participated in a Kava ceremony and enjoyed a lunch made with ingredients sourced from the village, followed by dancing with women and children. Despite my usual discomfort with public dancing, I found myself joining in; it felt liberating. People of all ages, from 5 to 77, had a fantastic time and managed well throughout the day. I recommend taking advantage of the return transport since it’s over an hour’s journey one way, even though it’s only about 44km from the Hilton. Our friendly guide and drivers made us feel at home. Plus, after a long day, it was nice to be able to nap without any worries. Be sure to hydrate beforehand and bring water on the boat, as the village visit takes longer than anticipated, which is just a helpful tip. Overall, it was an amazing day.
